We, myself and DD23, are going to WDW in Dec, and making plans for our AK day. Trying to decide between Finding Nemo the musical or the Lion King stage show. We love both movies, with a tiny edge to nemo I guess. Can anyone describe the shows? All music or what? Would love to hear opinions on which show you think is best and why you like it! I know everyone likes something different but just looking for some input on the shows so I can decide, lol! Thanks for any help! :goodvibes

Lion King show is amazing! You will not regret seeing it. We saw it once our first trip, and were not going to see it again on our 3rd trip(due to timing - saw Nemo for 1st time instead) but an off-duty CM asked if we had seen it, and last show of the day was about to start, and we ran over - we had forgotten how great it was! IMHO there is no compariso. We have it as FP+ for our trip in a few weeks. Also, it will be closing in Jan. till next summer, so it's a good time to catch it. HTH!

It has been a long time since I saw the Nemo show because our family much prefers The Lion King. It's very good. The performers are great and it's interactive and funny. The only thing I remember about Nemo is that some of the fish and other characters are on sticks carried around by adults in leotards. The word cheesy comes to mind. I think Lion King is the clear choice.

We love both shows.
Finding Nemo is a stage musical. I think it's cute, the songs are catchy.

Festival of the Lion King is wonderful. Interactive and very lively.

If we had to chose one it would be Festival of the Lion King.

We saw Nemo when the kids were really little. It was great, and very well done, but nothing we've been compelled to see again. Lion King, on the other hand, is a show we've seen every single trip to WDW - so that's nine times. And it never gets old - the music honestly brings a tear to my eye every single time. My vote is for The Lion King, for sure. :)

You cannot go wrong with either choice.popcorn::

Nemo - a larger stage production with innovative costuming more reminiscent of a Broadway show, albeit, with a Disney flair. The story being told is a shortened version of the movie classic.

Lion King - multifaceted production done in-the-round with singing & dancing that allows you to clap along and stomp your feet. Could be described as: a one-ring-circus without real animals, but excellent singing. While less classical-Broadway than Nemo, the show is by no means juvenile.

The Lion King is IMO hands down the best musical show on property. Cool music and singing and acrobats etc. Audience participation. Just a wonderful musical show. We go every trip. It is the one to see if you have to make a choice.

Nemo is really a shortened version of the movie storyline typical of other movie based shows on property. The costumes/puppets are really cool. We saw it once and have no interest to go again anytime soon.

If I could only do one, I'd do FotLK - unless you've seen the actual Lion King Broadway show, after which it sort of pales in comparison. But the acrobatics are great and the audience participation is a lot of fun.

They're both fantastic and I urge you to see if you can do both, though! I fit both, the bird show, both animal trails, and just about every ride in the park into a normal day with time to spare. I even ate lunch. :lmao:

:thumbsup2. The Lion King is a must also on every visit (it never gets old). It is one thing we never miss, even if we visit the park several times that year! If you have time for Nemo it is a good production but if I had to choose only one the Lion King wins hands down. We will be there in December also and looking forward to seeing the show already! :goodvibes

We prefer Nemo -- great original songs, amazing performers, beautiful sets and "costumes." It is essentially a mini-Broadway musical. We also enjoy FOTLK (and think it will hold DD2's attention better), but it is a theme park variety show -- albeit an extremely well-done one.

Why do you have to choose only one?

If I HAD to choose only one, I would do Lion King. This upcoming trip will be the third time seeing it, and we only just saw Nemo for the first time last trip. We like both, but Lion King, IMO, is so much more fun.

Both! If I did the 2 shows, the Flights of wonder & Safari at AK I would call it a great day.

Finding Nemo is a Broadway style musical production in the style of The Lion King on Broadway. It's an original production that follows the plot of the movie.

Festival of the Lion King is a variety type show with singing and dancing with some audience participation. There is not really a story line.

While both shows are quality productions we found the Nemo show better because of the Broadway quality production value and the original music.

YMMV. See both if you can. Have fun.

I have to go with Nemo. The songs are original and musically SO WELL WRITTEN!! It comes a lot closer to a professional show. FOTLK is GREAT, but it's more like a bunch of circus acts and I've seen that a lot before. I love both, but Nemo has to win this one.

I really, really enjoyed both but if you HAVE to only choose ONE, I'd say FOTLK! It's my favorite show, but then again, Nemo is excellent too.

Totally agree. FOTLK is a kids' show in my book-- totally enjoyable but heavy on audience interaction gimmicks and circus tricks. Nemo is a Broadway caliber show-- really, it was written by the same person who wrote Avenue Q. The music, sets, costumes, props are all beautiful. See both if you can, but I give the edge to Nemo.

Unless you are really limited in your time at AK then you should be able to do both. The one I prefer is FOTLK. Much more interactive than Nemo. FOTLK is a must do while Nemo is a good one but you will not feel your trip incomplete without it.
