If we would want to dine anywhere at AKL during October, when AK closes between 5-6, how long does bus service continue from other resorts and back? This last trip, my DD said she saw AK buses coming while waiting for an MK evening bus and she didn't understand why. How late does transportation run from the AK bus stop before other transportation needs to be considered? :confused3

Buses run from resorts to parks. You do not have to get a bus from or return to Animal Kingdom coming from AKL. All you need to do is go to a park that is still open (check your schedule for the day you have in mind). For instance, we had a 7:30 dinner reservation at Jiko's at AKL on a day that we were at AK and it closed at 6pm. We went straight from the park over to AKL and walked about for awhile and were actually able to be seated at about 7:20. We had finished dinner about 8:50 and went out front where we caught a bus back to Epcot which did not close until 9pm. At Epcot, we transferred to a bus going to Coronado Springs which is where we were staying.

The other thing you can do is to take a bus to Downtown Disney and transfer to a bus going back to your resort. The Downtown Disney buses run until 2 AM.

Buses run from AK to the resorts until all the guests are out of the park, and the RF Cafe. But, although the marquee may say AK, drivers are instructed not to bring any guests to the park after it's closed.

I guess that would be the worst case option. It would just be DH and myself so it's not like we're dragging young kids out of the way. This trip would focus more on dining (first time using DDP) with just one day at Epcot for F&WF.. so taking a park bus is limited unless the Studios would have a late night.

There's always the option of using a taxi. Yes it will cost a few bucks, but well worth it IMHO rather than the hour or more it can take to do the transfer via DTD. Compared to what you're going to spend for the meal at Jiko, the taxi fare is small potatoes.
