AK breakfast

We are looking for a place to eat breakfast on the morning we do Animal Kingdom. We are thinking either the Donald Character Breakfast, or taking the bus from our resort (the Poly), to AKL and eating at Boma, than taking their bus to the AK. Which do you think is a better idea? The charcters aren't an issue since we will be taking DD to 3 other charcter meals that week. Which do you think offers better value for the money? And would all that bus hopping to Boma make it to hectic with a 3 yr old? Thanks!

Christine

If you've never eaten b-fast at Boma, you ought to try it. They have a super buffett. All the traditional b-fast items plus a few African things for adventurous eaters. Check out the menu on http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_boma.htm

We've eaten there three times.

Hi ...

We've done Donald's Breakfastasaurus many times with the kids and always enjoyed it. The characters are a plus (I know that isn't a major consideration) but the cast members make it fun as well. The buffet is very good and it's location is good for little ones ... right near the "Bone yard" digging site as well as the playground (very cool) and Hester and Chester's.
I was just thinking that rather than do all the schlepping ... the "one stop shopping" thing might work well for the little one.
Have a great time!

I don't think you can take a bus from the Poly directly to AKL. You will either need to go to AK and then to AKL or from the Poly to TTC then a bus to AKL. Or really to any park then a bus to a resort. Although it's been a while since we've stayed at AKL, the Boma's breakfast is excellent, even though we tend to split time between it and a quick breakfast at the Mara or a character breakfast elsewhere.

There is no bus from the Poly to the AKL. You'd have to transfer at least once. The entire trip could take 45 minutes or more. You might be better off with the Donald meal at AK or the Rainforest Cafe.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't know that there is no direct bus from the AKL to the Poly. It looks like we'll do the Donald breakfast on our AK morning, and maybe try Boma a few years down the road when the kids aren't so young.

Generally, there are no scheduled buses from resort directly to another resort. The only quasi exception I can think of would be WL and the Campgrounds at FW. Because of bus route sharing, you can benefit from let's say taking a bus that is going from the Boardwalk to MK and get off at the Swan stop instead, however, I don't think any AKL buses share routes with any other resort. The monorail trip to TTC would only take a few minutes. You could even walk to there. Then take a bus directly to the AKL. It really is not a big hassle. A bus to AK would drop you off at their bus depot and the wait for a AKL bus shouldn't take much time. Regardless, Donalds is a great breakfast experience and one that I would do before the Boma if I had a choice.

The trip to Boma's may take a few more minutes, but I think that the trip would be worth it as it has really good food. Don't worry about the kids being older there are many kids in there and many kid friendly basic foods. RFC also has a decent breakfast, never been overly impressed with Donald's though maybe it was the timing.

Although the food at Boma may be better (I don't know because I've never been there, partially due to the logistics of getting to AKL) I don't think it would be worth the time and effort it would take you to get there.

We've been to Donald's 5 times and have had a very good experience every time. We go for the characters (one of the few places you're sure to find Donald) but the servers are a lot of fun too. The food is just regular breakfast buffet food, nothing unique like you'd find at Boma, but we always find it to be tasty and well-stocked.
