AK and EE

I know that the parks often get very busy on their EE. But, do you think this is "as true" for AK? We will be going MLK weekend and would like to do AK on EE (we can't get there until late morning) but I am concerned about it being EE.

What do you think?

We will be there MLK weekend, too! And my plan WAS to go to AK on Saturday, but we have now scrapped that plan and we are going to Epcot. I was afraid the crowds might be too much at AK because of EE. I also think there will be bigger crowds in general Friday - Monday. We are going home early Sunday morning, so Saturday is our last day at the parks. We are also having friends from Tampa join us on Saturday, and if they didn't have hoppers then AK might have been an expensive (and short - 5:00 closing) day for them. I have heard even on crowded days that Epcot is still OK, so that's where we will be. Good luck at AK! :D

Thanks...we will be at the parks the end of the next week as well (after a cruise) but my mom will only have the Saturday in the parks. She is doubtful about going to WDW so I thought AK would be good since it is so unique. We have CM ps for 5:40 so I also wanted a park that we could feel like we saw alot in a short amount of time. Our focus at AK will be the shows and maybe the safari so maybe the crowds won't bother us so much.

On our last trip we went to AK for the 1st time on EE and got there before the park opened. The cluster of people trying to go through the turnstiles was unbearable. We were all seperated. People were pushing and shoving. It was mass confusion. We jogged straight to the safari and stood in line for approx 40 minutes. It was ok. I think we were all still freaked out about the park opening. Needless to say it put a damper on our day there and we ended up leaving and going to Epcot. I am not sure what the best touring plan there is for AK.

Hi Anne,

The AK attractions don't have sufficient capacity to handle large crowds well, and you'll end up waiting in line more than if you'd gone on a non-EMH morning. That being said, using FASTPASS on the safari and concentrating on shows would probably minimize the impact as much as possible.

Somewhere around here I have a touring plan for the AK that starts around 10:30 am. Let me know if you're interested in seeing it.
