Aitran A+ credit promo with gift certificate purchase

Has anyone used this promo yet? I can't find the fine print on their website & have some questions.....so if I buy the $100 GCs I have to use my A+ Airtran number - so I get all the free credits? But I am also the person that will be booking & paying for 3 tickets - one for me & 1 each for the kids...can I buy the GCs in my own name? If I buy 6 $100 GCs they will be from ME and to ME - can that be done? I don't want to put the GCs in the kids' names since obviously they are minors & will not be paying for their tickets, that will be on my CC which is in my name. Is this making sense? Because now that I go back & read it, I know what I'm trying to ask, but it's not coming out right!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, does it matter who the GCs are made out to when redeeming them online? And can the person buying the GCs also be the person receiving & using the GCs?

I buy the GCs in my name and then buy the tickets for all of us and use the credits for all of us for upgrading flights. No problems doing that at all.

I gave the gift certificates to my wife and she used them for tickets purchased in her account and I also used them for purchases under my AirTran account. So it doesn't really matter who they are to. As long as you have the gift certificate codes, then you are fine.

You can link through Kayak to save the seat fee and also use coupons, AirTran account credit and GC all in one transaction.

Note that it's "every $100 in certificates".. I bought a $200 certificate and got 2 bonus credits for doing so. So, no need to buy multiple $100 certs.

It means if you buy two $50 GC in two different transactions they won't give you any credits. You can't combine the certificates to earn the credits.

Go to Kayak and search for the flight you want. Then elect that flight and choose AirTran.com. It will link you to the AirTran website, proceed to purchase your tickets. Do note that the prices on Kayak include certain fees and taxes so while it may appear to be costing more, the base fare should still be the same.
