Airtran????

I've been all over Air Trans website trying to find weight limits for carry ons and I can't seem to see it :confused3 I see the weight for checked bags but nothing for carry ons. Does anyone know what they are?

Thank you :)

The weight limit is common sense. If you can't safely lift it into the overhead bin, it is too heavy! :rotfl2:

I have flown Airtran more times than I could count and have never had any issues. 24 hours prior to your flight you can book your seats for free. I have never had a problem getting seats together when I waited until 24 hours before.

Just be sure you pay for your seat assignment. We got bumped off a flight for being 'the last to check-in'. That extra $6 each will save you a headache at the counter should your flight be oversold. Also, if you can swing it just pack carry-ons. We just did our last trip a few weeks ago that way and I was surprised we did it. Coming from a person who packs the world, it was nice to have a limit!

You can do your own check in and print your boarding passes for free 24 hours prior to your flight. This will keep you from getting bumped and avoid the hassle of check=in when you get to the airport.

I'm sorry, the CM's at AirTran aren't meteorolgists and it's not their job to predict whether or not the flight will be cancelled or not. I think this falls squarely on your sister and her friend.

As for AirTran itself, fees or no fees, every flight I have ever booked on AirTran from PHL to MCO has ALWAYS been cheaper than SW or USAir. That includes the fees. And although I have had minor ajustments in a couple of my flight times, their customer service has always been first class. They have allowed me to book a different flight and a different airport on 2 separate occassions.

My only complaint with AirTran is that they will soon be taken over by SW. Yeah, I won't pay "fees" but my fare will likely be higher that I could have gotten on AirTran.

Generally I agree, however, this was not a case of "this storm might happen". This was a case where pretty much ALL the major airlines were giving people the "change your flight at no fee" option because they KNEW it was coming. The individual agent (come on...they're only Cast Members at Disney) doesn't "have to be a meteorologist" but there should have been a general notice that went out and something to flag any attempted reservations on a day when a known storm was coming in. (Example: When I was stuck in Orlando at Christmas because of the blizzard in NYC, Continental was doing their best to NOT book people in the day or so after it happened to avoid yet more backlogging of people. The person at the counter next to me kept asking for "an earlier flight" and the agent explained that due to the storm there was a very good likelihood the flight the person was asking about would be cancelled too. I may have had my issues with them, but they were being honest with people about the situation and doing their best not to book people onto flights they (the airline, which had taken the responsibility to flag) likely would be canceling.

As, I said in my post, yes my sister and her friends were stupid for not paying attention to the weather, but it's also to the airline's advantage NOT to have to reschedule people AGAIN by not allowing people to change into a time when there is a 99% likelihood of flight cancellations.
