What is Airtran's policy when the fares drop? The fares for my January trip dropped almost $100 for my two tickets. I'll call and inquire when I have a chance, but wanted to be armed with some information first.

Thanks, T&B

They can rebook you at the lower fare, but for a $50 fee per ticket. Our flight dropped by a total of $200 for 4 of us, so it was a wash.

Unfortunately they are not a generous as some of the other carriers, if their prices go down they will not credit you the difference.

THEY STINK will not price match or refund for lower priced flights .. best of luck Michelle

That's too bad! Guess I should have booked with SW since they have a great policy, but I didn't want to mess around with the open booking.

I did notice that the return flight is now scheduled for later than it originally was (5:40 vs 5:05). Will Airtran contact me about this change or just tell me on my outbound flight? Just curious how this works since I've never encountered a change in times that I can remember.

Sorry to say they STINK at that as well.. I had 4 changes in 4 months and they only contacted me once.. I had to call and then fight for the flights that i wanted seems they changed the orginal ones i had.. best of luck Michelle

Our flight still has the same flight #, just a change of time (and later is actually better for us) so I don't anticipate a problem, but it would be good if they contacted a person, especially since they have my e-mail address. I've never flown Airtran and hopefully we'll have a good experience. I like SW a lot, except for the open seating.

My son just flew home on saturday night and they changed the time by 40 minutes and did not notify us. Good thing we double checked. I was surprised that they didn't notify by e-mail. But I will still pick them over SW since I can book my seat 24 hours in advance rather then hang out at the airport waiting to see how many people preboard.

Yes, that is a plus over SW for sure. I flew SW with my younger son earlier this month and that worked out fine because Jake was still under 5yo. He was *almost* 5yo, though, and kept telling everyone who would listen how old he was. He had his birthday yesterday, though, so we might wait to fly SW until they change there seating policy and allow seat assignments in advance like I heard the are planning on doing.

If Spirit is an option, you might consider them for future flights. I got email last week notifying me of a 15 minute change in departure times for my president's week trip.

I haven't actually flown them yet, but so far, I like what I see: good fares, advance seat assignments, and better change notification than I get from Northwest.

Last year I did get an e-mail from AirTran after both sides of our flights changed times. However the e-mail came pretty close to our departure date and I already knew about it by checking their schedule. It was quite a difference in time and the e-mail said we could call them and change flights if we wanted to (I believe they would have waived the change fee, but I wasn't interested in changing).
I agree with other that I prefer AirTran over SW becuase you can pick out your seats and print your boarding passes from home. Makes it a lot easier knowing where you will be sitting.
Overall they are pretty good. The employees are friendly and their fares are good.

There was such a big drop in the flight we were on (only non-stop out of ROC) that I did make the $50 change. One surprise, the credit expires one year from original purchase. In our case that was July! Oh, well maybe I can wisk DH away on a quick trip in May.... Then again ther are the kids..

AirTran did just send me an e-mail notifying me of the change of time for the return flight. That's good that they gave me the heads up!

If you are staying on WDW property the Resorts can do your seat assignments. I had no idea they would & it was free at POR.
At one time there was pay based internet like a pay phone at epcot in the Morrocco pavilian that is now gone. I asked at POR guest services & was informed the CM's can get our seat assignments & print the boarding passes at the resorts free of charge.

Santa, thanks! That's good to know--I'll ask at POFQ when I'm there in January.
