I am flying by myself on Wednesday with my 4 year old and 19 month old who will be sitting in my lap. Will I get to board first since I am travelling with small children? Or should I pay to reserve seats in the priority section? I have already reserved regular seats.

What do you mean by the "priority' section? With a 19 month old you might get to board early.

The priority section is the first few rows after business class. They board after business class and before the rest.

I fly Airtran a lot and do not recall them offering early boarding to those with young children. I pretty much am going to Orlando though so that would be much of the plane. Not sure about other destinations.

Honestly I know many parents of young ones (even boarding alone without another adult to help) prefer to board last so there isn't so much sitting around on the plane waiting.

Before Air Tran got pulled out of Dallas Nov 22nd:mad:, I used to fly them four or five times a year to Orlando. The only times I've ever seen them allow anyone to preboard are folks in wheelchairs, a Make a Wish family once, and people with service dogs. I always sit next to the desk and have seen many parents ask about preboarding. In every single instance, they've been told Air Tran does not do preboarding of small kids.

I prefer an aisle seat in the front of the plane and like to board early, plus with all the huge carryons people are carrying on now, on every single flight I've seen people who have to gate check their carryons due to no overhead space, consequently I always paid the $13.00 or $15.00 for those priority seats in the first few rows of coach that guarantee you boarding zone 1. Even flying solo like I do most of the time, it was worth it to me.
