We just got flight cancellation notifications from AirTran for 2 different flights to/from DFW next month. They moved the reservations to earlier flights making us lose over 1/2 the day. I called to check the situation and apparently they are canceling and/or moving a lot of flights. Just an FYI to check your reservations.

Moving this one over to the transportation board.

I notice you fly out of DFW too. I've received two of those emails in the last week or so about my FLL flights January 10th and January 18th. At least they are sending out emails now. Our flights to WDW last Sept with Air Tran just kept changing and the only way we knew about them, was by checking their site everyday. We never did get an email notifying us of the changes. I'm sure glad I am flying in the day before and leaving the day after my cruise in January. With the way the flights are set right now, if I was flying in the day of the cruise I would miss my ship and would also miss my flight home a week later.

Thanks for the info. I was considering AirTran for our trip in July, but since we're on the cruise, there is no way I can afford to have our reservation moved that much.

It's not just AT. I've had both Delta and Northwest change flight times.

Even worse, NW actually placed an automated call to my house at 10 p.m. the night before I was scheduled to catch a 6 a.m. flight the next morning to tell me that they had canceled that flight. If I hadn't been home (and I was actually supposed to be gone but had changed my mind), I would have had a sad surprise at the airport the next morning.

BTW, it was a connecting flight which meant I would have missed the next flight. I called them and told them that I was going to drive to the other city to catch the connection and would you believe they wanted to give me a hard time about it? :confused3

Airlines are like the little girl with the curl - when they're good, they're very, very good, but when they're bad, they're awful! ;)

My flights out of dfw haven't changed, from what I can tell. Were these direct flights? There is only 1 direct flight on both legs of my trip, so I hope they don't cancel them.

Hi Vanessa :wave2: Merry Christmas! Please give my holiday wishes to your mom and Mark.

I booked my daughter and her family out of DFW on Air Tran for our family trip in May. None of us has ever flown with them before (we normally use SW). Have you had generally good experiences with them? The only thing I ever see is that they're bad about changing their flight times.

Yes, they are the nonstop flights both ways. The return flight was the 7 something pm, they cancelled it completely and moved her to earlier.

We fly them quite a bit to Orlando and this is the first time we've had this problem. I saw on another forum several American flights cancelled for not having enough seats sold as well.

IMO the service on AirTran has been better than we've gotten elsewhere, especially on board.

Thanks, that's good to know. I chose Air Train over SW because of the non-stop. They do have the baggage fees, which I hate, but I thought a non-stop with a 3-year-old was the way to go.

I just got back from an Air Tran flight yesterday. I booked it in September, and the flight times didn't change at all. Both flights were non-stop and were on time (actually early on the flight to Orlando).

I checked the airfare a couple of days before I left to go home, and it had dropped to $54! I called A+ (I'm a member), and they adjusted the charge (putting the balance in my account). The next day I called back and asked them to upgrade me to Business Class using my credit (24 hours before my flight), and they did. At first, they said they couldn't, but after I asked very nicely (begged for help ;)), she did it. I think I have $1 left in my account now.

ETA: I think you get a free bag if you upgrade to Business Class. I know that I was allowed two free bags, but I think one of them was because I booked in Sept. before they started charging for baggage.

Both flights were great. For the last several years, Air Tran has been my favorite airline. BTW, you can use their free disposable earphones, or you can bring your own (which is what I usually do).
