AirTran lost his bag, how long?

Ok so my buddy just got back to Milwaukee today and it turns out they had to change planes due to a mechanical issue and somehow a lot of people's bags got left on that other plane..Does anyone know how long it typically takes for Airtran to find a bag and return it? they said they would deliver it to his house when it gets here but he lives 2 hours from the airport..He left his wallet in his checked bag, yes stupid i know, so he really needs to get his bag back..Any idea on how long this could take?? any advice would help..thanks!

Once they locate it they have to get it on a flight going into the airport. That can sometimes be the next day. Are there anymore flights in tonight? If not it will be tomorrow and yes they will deliver it to the house.

Yes, they will deliver it to him. We live over an hour away from the airport we use and everytime our bags are "lost" they are delivered to us when they come in. The airlines contract with a delivery service that should contact him when they have his bag and make arrangements to have it delivered. Make sure he keeps his claim information and if he doesn't hear anything by tomorrow afternoon I would contact the airlines just to check on the claim.

I actually wouldn't consider this "lost", but in any case they will deliver it. Last time one of our bags missed our flight they showed up at 7:15AM the next morning at out front door with it.

airtran has always (to connotate numerous times) called us to let us know when the bags have arrived @ airport & when we should find it on our front porch. Typically late the next day.

if their tracking system shows the bag truly MIA, I was told they have 1 month before reimbursement claim can be satisfied...i had one turn up almost a month later that i had written off.
