According to the morning newspaper, Air Tran will no longer offer the service. It has quietly been phasing it out since the beginning of summer. AC airport is so nice and convenient. It was nice having 2 competing carriers non-stop to Disney, oops I mean Orlando...

Did they ever really fly non stop to MCO? When DH and I went last March I looked at Airtran out of ACY and I never once saw a non stop flight to or from MCO. We were a littel flexible just wanted the best rate and so I would look 2 days in either direction of the date we wanted and there was some dates that Airtran was not flying to ACY at all.

Of course this just means that Spirit will raise airfare from ACY. I really hate driving the 1+ hour to Philly when ACY is 20-30 mins from us.

Yes they flew non-stop. Over spring break we used Air Tran non-stop to Orlando. We've flown Spirit twice- there wasn't any difference really between the two carriers. But now Spirit charges for carry ons:scared1: and with no compititopn......hopefully we don't have to goto Philly Int'l-:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

airtran had anouced that effective nov 30 they would not be flying from Moline. Ill to Atlanta this has not set to well in this area as atlanta is a major hub although airtran will con't to fly non stop to orlando 4 times a wk just booked April 1st for 117 and thought that was a good rate since it had been 351

I hadn't heard this news until now, but I'm not surprised. Over the past year and a half I've flown 3 non-stop roundtrips on Airtran Atlantic City to/from Orlando.

None of the six flights were anywhere near full. The most crowded one was maybe 75% of capacity. Most were about 50%, and on one, perhaps only 20 passengers were on board.

I don't know if my experiences were typical, but I suspect so. Airtran did have daily flights for a while, then cut back to 3 times a week.

On the other hand, most Spirit flights to/from Orlando were at or near capacity.

Too bad.....I enjoyed Airtran as a change of pace from Spirit.
