:cool1: Our second discount carrier...we just got JetBlue last fall. And, they are going to offer a nonstop flight to MCO, only once a week but it's a start!

I live in the Portland area too and am excited to hear about AirTran. I hadn't heard about a non-stop to MCO - that is the best news I have heard all year!!! When does service start? With 2 young kids, non-stop is the only way we'll go, so we always fly from Manchester on Southwest...

Service starts in the beginning of June. The nonstop is going to be on Saturdays, which isn't going to help me next trip (July) as I have to come and go midweek this time :sad1:

It's great to have more choices though. People who fly out of ATL or ORD have no idea how liberating it is when a new airline comes to town.

So true. I heard the direct to Orlando is going to be seasonal at first and then may continue depending on how much people use it. Even so Air Tran is another option.:thumbsup2 I wonder if it will cause the other carriers to lower their fares?

Hello,
I have been "board lurking" for about a year. Haven't been a Dis member since we went on our only WDW trip in 2003! We are trying very hard to get back to the mouse this August. I was thrilled to see Airtrans announcement :cool1: I have never flown with them before- does anyone have any comments?? How is their service?
Thanks!
Karen

I noticed they are starting service in Saint Louis in May. This is good news since the deals on Southwest seem to be fewer and far between lately.

I too am excited for Airtran at PWM. We are a bit isolated up here and often pay so much more if we want to travel out of Portland and always have to switch planes somewhere. Direct flights! Awesome!:yay:
