Any input on your experiences flying AirTran would be appreciated. We usually fly JetBlue, but the price keeps going up! AirTran is the cheapest right now. We will be flying from Buffalo, actually live in Canada (talk about ridiculous flight prices!) Thanks!

We've mostly flown Airtran in the last 8 years from MPLS because they have been the cheapest. We've never had a bad experience. Flights for us have always been on time or early. In the past we had issues with our flight times changing, but usually to our advantage. In the past two years the flight times have only changed by a few minutes either side. From MPLS, our experiences have been great.

We've only flown AirTran out of Indy and have never had any problems at all! I always check around and always come back to AirTran.

We fly Airtran almost exclusively and we have always had great experiences. They did lose our luggage last December (sent it to San Francisco instead of Orlando), but that can happen with any airline and we're flying Airtran again in Sept. They do change their flight times a bit more than most I think, but it is only a few minutes usually and they will give you the opportunity to change to another flight (even another day) if you don't like the change. (providing you booked directly through them of course) I think you'll be pleased with Airtran's service. Good luck!

We love Air Tran and fly them several times a year. Flight times have changed by a few minutes a few times, but nothing major. As of Nov 23rd they are no longer flying out of Dallas (thanks Southwest:mad:). We're sure going to miss them. They are our favorite airline.

I've always had a very good flight experience with AirTran. No problems on the day of travel.

My complaint with them has been that they seem to have a much higher than normal probability of changing flight time (at least out of my airports). I have never booked an AirTran flight whose time didn't change significantly before the travel date.

Hi Neighbor to the North,

We fly AirTran or JetBlue out of Buffalo or Rochester several times a year. We of prefer JB because of the TVs for the kids and there is more leg room than AirTran, but frequently, the price for AirTran is better.

We are flying AirTran on the 21st of this month out of Rochester this time. There are some things to keep in mind when pricing out your flights:

Luggage: JB flies the first bag for free, AirTran charges $20/bag.
Seats: JB doesn't charge you to select seats, AirTran charges $6/seat to select in advance of check-in.

So you are looking at AirTran costing $26 in fees per person over what JetBlue would cost. Something to consider if the flight prices are close.

We've flown AirTran on our 2 previous trips to WDW. We did have some incremental time changes both times, nothing significant, but were flying out of a large airport. This time we're flying out from a small local airport and our AirTran times haven't changed at all so far :)

Never had a problem, our flights have always taken off on time and arrived on time or a little early. Flight attendants and pilots have been great. We DO reserve our seats so we don't have to worry about the seating issues that some people seem to have had with them. Sure it stinks that you have to pay the extra money for a seat assignment, but to me, I cough up the extra $6 per person and that's well worth our peace of mind not stressing about being separated from our kids on the flight or getting bumped...

We always pay to reserve our seats too. On our last trip, there was a group of 15 who showed up without reserved seats and of course, there was no way they were sitting together. It was grandma and grandpa and mom and dad and their 11 children. When they weren't able to sit together, the mom made a HUGE production of walking up and down the aisle the whole flight checking on her kids and offering them gum and snacks and making sure they were ok. She drove us crazy with her leaning over us or shouting up a few rows to a child or bumping into people as she moved up and down the aisle.

I fly Airtran out of ATL and have never had a problem with them or their employees.

I usually book an aisle seat near the front of the plane in advance so I can get off the plane quick.

If you don't have a seat prepaid, odds are good you will be seperated from each other on the plane.
Airtran is cheap and they fill up.

I've only had the times change on me once and the difference was only 5 minutes so it didn't matter to me.
