Airtran exit row leg room question

Does the exit rows on Airtran have much more legroom than the regular rows? My 15yr old son who is pushing 6'5" is all legs has a hard time getting in and out of my car (which is a crossover so not small), so I thought about upgrading his seat, dbf's who is 6'3", and my daughters using the new coupon. If the legroom isn't much more I won't waste the time doing it, but if it will make him have a more comfortable flight I will. Also does the row behind the exit row have underseat storage?

I think you have to be 16 to sit in an exit row. Anyone know?

According to Airtran:
To qualify for Exit Row seating, you must be:

•15 years of age or older
•Willing and able to help in the event of an emergency
•Not traveling with an infant, children or pets
•Able to speak and understand English
•Able to lift 50 pounds
•Not using a seat belt extender (which could get tangled in an emergency)

I think it would be worth it for DS and DBF, if they will let you do it. You should check into where they will allow children to sit, though. I have flown before where they won't let kids sit in the rows in front of or behind exit rows. It was either Delta or Alaska airlines.

As far as the rule about traveling with children, I don't think it would apply to either of them. You would be responsible for your dds. In any event, DH and I traveled with our two kids and my disabled mother on our last flight and DH was seated in the exit row and the rest of us were at the back of the plane. So much for that rule!

You can go to seatguru.com and it should tell you how much extra legroom the exit rows will have.

I always book the exit row for me and my DH. Many times we upgrade to business class at the last minute but if not, the exit row is comfortable. There is quite a bit more leg room than in regular coach. Yes, the row behind the exit row has underseat storage.

Thanks so much for the information. I'm going to change their seats in the morning.

Thanks for clarifying that for me.
