AirTran is now booking through Dec. 17. The way to find out if they are booking your travel dates is to check their web site every day.
I just wish they would make it "easier". Other airlines don't even let you "select' the date if it's not open yet. Airtran just lets you waste your time. (Oh well, they will soon be managed by SW who does appear to have a clue how to do things like that!)
I am not that inconvenienced by checking AirTran's web site on a daily basis. I'm also not looking forward to the demise of AirTran and the introduction of Southwest here!
Those of us that fly out of Dallas are sure dreading Southwest taking over. We'll no longer be able to fly out of DFW, will no longer be able to pick our seats at purchase, will lose our A+ Rewards credits, will lose our direct/nonstop flights to MCO, and to top it all off will get to pay alot more for our flights.![]()
I am losing my patience with them![]()

Is there any difference between booking one way vs. round trip? I'm worried by the time our return flights are released, the flight to MCO will be much higher than the current $143. Called Airtran and was told they release flights 6 months in advance, so I've been checking frequently. Our flight to Orlando has been released, either Dec. 20 or 21, but our return flights haven't been announced. Our dates on the return flight are flexible, depending upon the fares. The Airtran flights to Orlando ($143) are much cheaper than Southwest ($253). Southwest has been very up and down this week!
I hadn't seen the sale fares for $94 for BMI. That would be sweet! There are at least 10 of us (possibly) going on 12/20. We want to be on the non-stop flight so we are probably going to book it soon. Really hope that the return flights are reasonable! We usually fly out of Indy, but we're looking forward to the free parking, smaller airport and proximity to Avanti's at BMI.
