We just booked for 4 of us from Detroit to Orlando for $675.00. Best price we ever got!

We have flown with AirTran several times with no problems!

I just love them cookie things! Ive never seen them in the store. They taste different.

I like the half sub on continental better but not there prices! LOL

We flew with AirTran once. We had no complaints. In fact, I'm kicking myself now for not booking our Jersey Week flights with them. They had $99 fares, each way, but I was going to wait for Southwest to open. They just did, up until November 2 (we're leaving November 5!) and their prices are higher!

Yes, they have XM radio!! And they give you headphones (sealed ones) and you can keep them! It's the little things that get me excited.

We also love Airtran. I booked yesterday for 69 each way. Today is went down to 49.. Called them up and got a credit for the future. Good for 1 year from the date I booked it. South Jersey here also. I also work in Wash Twp..

Can I just say ...I got a great deal for September on Airtran 118 round trip with tax for 6....I am so excited I waited all morning for SW and they did not have any good deals. I guess that Airtran wanted to get the SW clients... They got me... Now just have to give the info to Disney for ME

I like AirTran a lot
- You get to pick your seats at check-in (24 hours ahead of time online) - I don't mind Southwest, but sometimes I feel like cattle being herded onto the plane and like i'm going to have to fight someone to get a seat with my DH, and I don't like that feeling - I like having an assigned seat!
- Their frequent flying program is pretty decent - easy to get business class upgrades and free flights
- I love the XM radio
- All the staff has always been very friendly (although I admit I don't care for the Orlando based check in staff all that much - but that's the exception)
- I like their cheap business class upgrades - it's fun to treat yourself every so often. Hehe.
- And the reason I most love them right now is that I got my September flights for $59 each way! Woo

We've had a few instances where they've changed our flight times - only by a few minutes though - well except one case when they called us a few hours before we left the airport to tell us our flight had drastically changed times - We were a little upset, called customer service, and got put on a non-stop (more expensive flight) with no problem. So, they quickly redeemed themselves in my book.
Everyone has different experiences, but I think it's worth giving them a try.

So I screwed up, bags were over weight. I dont mind to pay. We thought they might be over weight.

I didnt care for the Orlando based check in staff either!

We get up to baggage check in. He said, "Ok, what do you want to throw out?"

I said, "I do NOT want to THROW OUT anything, we will pay"

I had an extra very small piece of luggage. I was planning on paying for that.

He said, "You have to many bags. Carry this one on."

I said, "No, I need to pay for it. There are things in here that cannot be carried on. I was under the impression I could check it in and pay?"

He said, "You have to many bags!"

I ended up throwing away all my shampoo, hairspray, lotions ect...

You not allowed to have an extra bag and pay for it???

I wasnt. I had to replace everything when I got home.

Besides this, AirTran has been good. I forgot about this until I read DisneyLovingRN's post.

I bet they throw all that stuff away. It should be donated to someone!

I'm so tempting to book my flight to WDW with Airtrans and not wait for SW ding. My only problem is that we wanted to stop in Ft Myers 9/15 (visit family) and drive to disney 9/16 and then fly back to Philly on 9/22. But the flights to FT Myers all have stops. Maybe I will just book coming home from Orlando to PHL on 9/22 and then play it by ear for my FT Myers flight.

Just wanted to say hi to all of my fellow South Jerseyans on this thread! I booked Airtran yesterday as well, PHL-MCO $49 each way in Sept, and I checked today, and that great price is gone! The same flights are now $99! I am so excited that I got so lucky! I usually have bad luck with these kinds of things, and I was especially worried because we are flying Fri-Fri, and I never thought I'd find a deal! We have 7 people flying for $800.00 round trip! You can't beat that! We love Airtran!

We have never flown AirTran but we are trying it out in October...got 59.00 from Chicago to Orlando. I too waited for SW and was disappointed with their rates. I am glad to read all the positive words about AirTran. It was amazing...last night we were trying to figure out if we should just book SW and possibly get a credit later on or book AirTran at 84.00 and while we were going back and forth to the websites checking flight times AirTran reduced their 84.00 fare to 59.00...well we didn't think SW could beat that. We have 1 stop in NC going down but we are nonstop coming home. Has anyone ever done the 1 stop and had any problems? We do not get off the plane.

All, Airtran out of Philly is awesome.

I've used them many times and have never had any problems. I've used Southwest once, and like Airtran much better. The Airtran terminal at PHL is much nicer, and the curbside checkin in virtually empty compared to southwest or US Air.

If they have decent rates...... Bookem you won't be disappointed. If you've got any questions..... feel free to PM me. I consider myself an Airtran veteran.

Hi Donnask8pro- No, we went during Roshashana last year- I think the kids only ended up missing 3 days of school for our 8 day trip. It worked out great for us. This year we are going Sept 28-Oct 5. Missing a whole week of school, but we feel like family time is important. Hopefully the teachers will understand! We love Cherry Hill!

We are flying Airtran for the first time this Oct. I was very lucky and got 27$ each way to MCO. I called yesterday cause I didn't see our flight anymore. The times were changed but not by much. The new flights aren't there either. We do have a direct flight so hopefully it won't change too much.
