We are flying AT for the first time this week.

Can I do this...
I will check in online 24hrs before our flight. Morning of flight,DH drops dd and I off at curbside check in, then leaves to return rental car. I check in and check all 3 of ours bags (without dh present)? Can this be done? Or does he need to be present to check his bag?

Sorry for the dumb question. Thanks.:goodvibes

Not sure if they would check without him there but this is what we have done on the last 4 WDW trips:

We stop at the curb and I get out and grab all 4 suitcases and roll them over to curbside checkin. DW takes her time unloading the three kids, setting up stroller gathering the carryons, etc. I go to the curbside check in with both of our ID's and the checked luggage and check us in. DW and the three kids are within the agent's sight, so I don't know if the agent would do it if she was not there. By the time the agent gets me checked in and takes the bags, DW has the kids and the car unpacked. They go get something to eat and wait at the predetermined place while I return the empty car.

This has worked great when flying Midwest Airlines as they never had a wait at curbside checkin. I'm not sure if it would be feasable if there were a long line for check in.

:goodvibes Thanks for your reply.

Anyone have any other experiences?

Is there a charge for AirTran curbside check in? If so, how much? Also, if you checked in 24 hours in advance and used curbside check in, where do you go after checking your bags -- directly through security?

Not a dumb question at all! I can only speak for Atlanta's airport: DH must present his ID to check the bags. If there's no line at AirTran's curbside, you all might be able to leave the car for a minute or 2 in order for your DH to present his ID and bag - or do something similar to all5ofus! :thumbsup2

Yes, at least in Atlanta, once you've done curbside, you can proceed through security - just have the boarding passes and ID's out. :)

Does AirTran have curb side check in @ Orlando? Their web site does not show them having that option.

I don't believe they do. Even though I arrive with my boarding pass, I have to go to the counter to check my bag in, then have to walk it to one of the TSA areas, where they take it. :confused3
