Just booked my first flight other than ATA in about 10 years. I was disappointed to find that I could not select my seats on purchase. I see AirTran has 24 hour advance online check-in. Can we select seats if we use that service?

I've flown Air Tran 3 times and did not have problems getting seats together if I logged on 24 hours before. You do not need to print the boarding passes, I reserved our return seats on my laptop and had them printed at the airport. I'm not sure if you can call 24 hours before to get your seats.

Oh thank you! Traveling with 3 boys under 4.....I'd hate to be all split up!

Last December I logged into AirTran check in at just under 24hrs before flight and all seats were still available.

Just to reassure you, we were a party of 7 and had no problem getting seats all together both ways. Very easy! If you are nervous, just log on exactly 24 hours in advance! have a great trip

I thought that the check-in online was only for people that were traveling with no luggage (other than carry-on). Am I wrong?

We always check in on-line, print out our boarding passes and we always check luggage. We've never had a problem. It actually saves us time at CAK because we do not have to stand in line for our boarding passes and we just can by-pass all of this and just check our bags.
