AirTran cancelled my flight!!!

Deanna,

Your travel date wasn't 7/9 was it? I made my airfare reservations weeks ago, and when I went to add the Magical Express to my WDW reservation, I noticed the flight changed! Now that i know you got out of it I am going to try the same thing! Who wants to rush home early on the last day? :confused3

dphie28-

My travel date was 6/4. I would definately call and have them give you a refund (they cannot penalize you if the flight they want to switch you to is inconvenient). Hopefully, you'll be able to get a less expensive flight home at a more convenient time.

Good luck!

I guess they eliminated that flight from all their dates because I was the same exact time.

I checked SW and they have nothing cheap enough to change flights. Being a holiday week I think I am in trouble...

Our flt. from Bos was changed from 5:30am to 8:30ish, a better time. I found it by checking myself. Happened that several days later we received an email notification. Our trip is later this month. May be they don't inform customers till a month before the trip? I am a bit disappointed about arriving in Florida noon rather than 10:30am. :mickeybar

I am very happy with AirTran so far----we booked our flights back in Oct and just last week they called to let us know the times were changed. I asked for an email to be sent to me and they did that also. Gets us there 1/2 hour earlier and home about an hour earlier. I checked the website and the times are correct according to what they told me. We leave next week.

I was also happy to see the flights cost $296 each way and we only paid $69---WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!

So far so good....

I too booked a flight w/AirTran simply because I would be getting to Orlando early in the morning (around 8 am....perfect to start the day at Disney World) but when I checked back I noticed that they had changed my flight from 8am to 1:57 pm!!! I was very upset because they are cutting my vacation short!!!!! Argh....and yes, they will charge me $100 per ticket to cancel my flight and $50 to change times!!!!!

Since they drastically changed your times they should not charge you to change it or should give you a full refund. Call back and ask for a supervisor.

As I previously responding to this post: Okay, well this morning, I'm checking airfare w/Cheaptickets for a friend who is coming along w/us and notice that Airtran has a flight leaving at 9:50 am on the same day that my flight was pushed back to 1:00ish. :earseek: So, I get on AirTran website and check my reservations and now they have changed my time for the 3rd time  to 9:50 a.m.!!! (which is okay w/me) but when were they planning on telling me?? :confused3 So, I called them and asked them how many more times they were going to change my flight before I leave in July???? And the representative said that- that was the last time it was going to change and I would be leaving definitely at 9:50a.m. And so.......let's see what happens!!!

I booked flights on Delta several months ago when they offered great fares from Allentown (ABE) - $135 per person. I usually fly non-stop, but for the price I figured we could deal with the connecting flights. I checked times this morning so I could put info in for car rental and found out they changed our flights. Our layover in Atlanta on the way to MCO was now over 3 hours! (They changed our flight from ABE to Atlanta leave about 2 hours earlier than originally scheduled). On the way home, the layover was now 15 MINUTES! No way could I make a connection in 15 minutes, especially with 2 young kids! So I called Delta and complained. They tried to change my return flight to an earlier mid-afternoon flight but I didn't want that since I have already made plans for that last day with the expectation of flying out later in the day. The person at Delta was extremely helpful and actually changed our flights totally to leave from Philadelphia instead of Allentown. They didn't charge me anything additional. Only problem is our seat assignments on the flight from MCO to ATL have us all separated. We have 2 sets of seats in front of each other - so DD6 and DS8 will pretty much be sitting alone (DH or I will be right in front of or in back of them). I'm hoping they will move us around when we get to the airport so DH and I will each be sitting next to a kid. The woman at Delta was very understanding and worked very hard to find accomodating flights for us. I think I was on the phone with her well over an hour this morning.

I also have had my flight changed from AirTran. I called and asked about it. the change was to a later departure time by 2 hrs. I ask why there had been so many changes lately. The agent explained that they had added new cities to their schedules and need to move planes/pilots around to cover them. I asked if I need to check again before my May flight. The agent thought that this week should finish up the changes. At least now we know why they needed to make the changes. To bad they forgot about their customers and how this might effect them.

I don't know if this will help others, but when I book Airtran I always look at the other flight times and flight numbers on the planes. Sometimes you can tell which one or which time is going to be cancelled. On our upcoming trip I looked at the times coming home and the flight numbers and sure enough there is one flight that is leaving an hour before ours and arriving an hour later than ours. I know that one of those flights will be cancelled and all of us put on one plane. I make arrangements according to both of the flight times that were available so I won't be upset rushing to the airport or having a long layover.

Regardless of how many times they tell you they won't change the times, don't believe them. You are 3 months out and I bet they do change the time, even if it it by a few minutes. Please make sure you check the times up until the date of departure. Our experience is that they do make last minute changes and rarely notify you.

How do I check on the website if my flight has changed? My family is scheduled to return home on 5/30 to Midway, Chicago from Orlando.......

I'm a big lover of SW too....we are flying to MCO on SW, but I couldn't get a good time and fare on the return flight so I booked AirTran....for the first time.

Thanks in advance

Are you signed up for A-Plus rewards? You can login and review your reservations, it will list the times. If not, go into reservations like you want to price a trip.

I just checked my AirTran reservation for June, and my non-stop flight to Orlando now gets in 90 minutes later. :( They either cancelled or changed the flight number on one of my return flights.

I booked with Jet Blue in August because my husband didn't want the 6:45 flight instead of booking with song for $20 cheaper per ticket. We'll didn't Jet Blue cancel our 10:45 flight and moved us to a 2:45. We'll with three kids, a 2:45 does NOT work, but they let me change it at no cost to me. Unfortunately now we are on the 6:45 the same flight we didn't want from song and if we had booked with song in the beginning we could have saved $100, but Jet Blue was very very nice on the phone.

We flew Airtran on our last trip and NEVER AGAIN. The cabin looked like a garbage can when we boarded, as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. They separated our seating to 1, 3, and 1. This was a nightmare with children ages 6, 4, and 3.

Can I ask if you did your seating through the online checkin or did you do it when you arrived at the airport? I was told that if you had small children that they would switch passenger seats for you once you board if you happen to get separated.

I don't expect much for $69 one way. I've flown on airbuses that looked like garbage cans and that ticks ya off more when you pay those kinda prices. We're only gonna be on the flight 1 hour 40 min so I guess I'll just hold my feet up and hope no mice run across my toes!! :rotfl: (no offense Mickey)
