What do I need to have prepared for online check-in?

We wont have our passports for our April cruise until mid to end of February. Should I just not do early check in until I get them? This is our first cruise. Will delaying checkin impact anything else like booking things?
Online check in is separate from booking activities. However, the earlier you do online check in, the better choice you'll have of Port Arrival Times (PAT) and boarding groups (meaning, you can board the ship earlier). If that doesn't mean much to you, then waiting to do online check in is fine.

If you are first-time cruisers on DCL, you can't do online check in until 30 days out anyway, so it sounds like you would have your passports in time.

Okay awesome. If we are doing DCL transport form the resorts that should help with our boarding group Ive read right?

Yes. You'll be automatically assigned a boarding group (and PAT doesn't matter, as you'll be able to enter the terminal as soon as the bus arrives). You will still need to do online check in, but there's no rush then.
