AirTran $50 change ticket fee

Has anyone had had luck in contacting AirTran and having the fee waved? We'd like to change the tickets to December (and obviously pay any price difference). My DS is special needs, and I don't think we're going to be able to go on the Sept trip. My DS will be most likely having 2 major surgeries this year, and missing 5 days of school will not be an option. So, it looks like we're going in December. I do have trip insurance for the tickets, but if I don't have to file a claim, I think it would be easier.


Any advice or thoughts?

If you have trip insurance. I'd file a claim and try to recoup your money.
