Yep, you take it through security. You will have to fold it to get it through the X-ray machine (a pain, but it can be done, even with a full-size stroller). When you get to the gate, tell them you have a stroller you need to gate check. They will give you a tag for the stroller and one to keep with you. You fold the stroller and leave it just outside the door of the plane. They will load it last with the rest of the baggage and then bring it up to you when you land. You just have to wait there outside the plane door while they bring it. We do this every trip and it is great. If the baby doesn't want to ride, we pile our carryon bags on it and use it like a baggage cart through the airport. Use it for your layover, and then when you get to your connecting flight, repeat the process once more.
