Airtan carry on help

Leave tonight!! Tell me about your carry on. Do I count straps, my purse with straps ( I have a cross your body bag ) is bigger than these measurments.

This is from the Airtran site:

•For a personal item, such as a briefcase, laptop, purse, or camera to fit under the seat in front of the customer, it must not exceed 17” long + 12” wide + 8.5” tall.

I don't fly airtran, but I'd wonder how much "bigger" your bag is. If you're within 1/2", I'd say no problem. 1"-2" would be questionable and 2"+ I'd say no way.

For a purse, straps don't count because they can be folded up. Just the "body" of the purse. It basically has to fit under the seat in front of you. I can't imagine a purse that would be too large.

I have read on here where Airtran was very picky with bags. The tall I am supposing is the depth of the bag. Thanks for putting me at ease.

we just flkew airtran and no problems i have roll on carry on and a big bag under seat roll on went in compartment. people had their feet on the bags by their feet and they werent stopped either it was a full flight too have fun no stress we to flew to orlando and back
