Does anyone know if the Universal hotels offer transportation to the airport, maybe something similar to Disney's ME?

No the Loews hotels dont offer any airport transportation. You can rent a car grab a cab or hire a limo/town car service.

Do you happen to to how much it might cost approx. for 2 adults and 2 kids from the Royal PAcific to the airport?

It's usually $90 + gratuity r/t via towncar, and they will include a complimentary 20-30 minute grocery stop on the way to the resort.

We like http://www.sunraytransportation.com and http://www.tiffanytowncar.com

I would recommend Sunray because they'll pick you up in an SUV so they'll be plenty of room for the 4 of you. The only drawback is that they do not accept credit cards. You will have to pay by cash or traveler's cheques. Tiffany will accept credit cards, but they will charge extra if you want an SUV.

Both of them have rates on their website.

A Taxi is about $33 one way (tip not included).

Check out www.mearstransportation.com. There's a taxi fare estimator that will give you an idea of what you can expect to pay for various destinations in and around Orlando.

to get a dollar for dollar so to speak comparison

mearstransportation.com lists HRH as $17 one way or $27 round trip.

I'm just adding this because they're a sponsor of the DIS and I personally used them the last time I went to Disney. FL Tours was the best limo service I used so far, out of the three I tried. I don't know if they're run by the same people two years ago, but I had excellent service with them. I'm going to use them again when I go from MCO to RPH resort in July and then from RPH to the Polynesian resort 2 days later.

We took taxi's last week to and from the airport and to and from magic kingdom. The round trip airport was $80 even w/o tip. The MK portion was $70 RT and we sat in a ton of traffic getting there. Bonus on the way back to the airport was the "taxi" called to Portofino turned out to be a brand new town car with the nicest driver we have ever had! I have his card and # if anyone is interested.

Y not just rent a car for the week, this way you can drive to get your own food, water, etc, I got a car for the week from dollar rent a car for 125.00 for the week. Even if you only use it to drive to and from the airport and maybe out to eat outside of the parks to save some money, and use their bus transportation for the parks, it seems like it would be worth it. I just wanted to add some more information to this thread. I called FL Tours and got a quote on the phone because of my two transfers.

I'm arriving to MCO and having a Town car pick up my family of 4 and taken to PBH. I will then get picked up from the PBH two days later and taken to the Poly. The following Saturday I get picked up from the Poly and taken to the Airport. For all of this I got a quote of 170.00 dollars and I think it's a pretty good deal, IMO. I went with them on my last trip because of their sponsorship of the DIS. I could have used Magical express on my return trip the airport but I'm leaving early enough as it is and didn't want to leave any earlier than I already am.

I had checked with renting a car or using taxi's, but dollar for dollar, I found FL Tours to be my best bet, so far.

last 2 years i used the town service alexandvanessa listed.

for a 3 legged trip, it is only $112 total (+tip)
use a code and you get the discount with them.

i use them from mco to disney
from disney to universal hotel
from universal to mco

and you can book the grocery stop at any portion of the trip.
stock up at the local stores and what you save on drinks and snacks practically pays for the town service between hotels.

if you book a package with universal resorts, they do have transportation available, either car rental or shuttle.

they have used quick silver in the past.

check out the website and see what the costs are on it.
one year i used it and it was very cheap. think it was $14

i have used all the ways for transportation for the orlando trips.
now i stick with town car service for everything.

Sorry, I think your price is on the high side. When I had a complicated reservation, I contacted FL Tours, Tiffany, Sunray, Transportation2Disney (are they also Murray Hill?,not sure) and Carrier, and FL Tours was by far the highest of the quotes, and they only offered a towncar, despite me telling them 3x we would have a party of 4 adults with luggage and didn't want a town car. Sunray was $100 less and gave me an SUV at no charge. I would call around. If you feel you want to use them because they sponsor the boards, by all means use them, but I'm pretty sure you could donate $50 to the boards, and still save money with another reputable company.

Thanks for the info and I'm glad I posted on this thread. The only problem is now I don't know what limo company to use. I guess it's back to looking around.

Honestly, I would start with Sunray. They're our favorite (and the favorite of many on the Universal board). Like FL Tours, they don't accept credit cards.

i have to second what jodie said.

i have used sunray and will be using them again on my fall trip.

they are the most affordable and reliable company in the orlando area.

i have used 7 different car service companies since i quit renting cars at the airport. for what i pay on a 14 day stay between disney and universal, i come out ahead in using sunray.

i travel solo now and have since 2004, i feel very comfortable with the drivers at sunray. the drivers are also the owners of the company.
i imagine they would sub contract out if need be but you would usually get bob or ray. both nice men and very professional.

we would not steer you in the wrong direction.
vanessa and i post on the threads a lot and have been to UO many many times. we have checked out the companies before we have used them.
we both agree that sunray has provided us and others with good service.

no, i don't work for them and neither get any discounts for recommending them.......just in case you were wondering.
just wanted to share my experiences in using town car services and how i perceive sunray.

i know other posters will have their preference also.
there are many good companies that you can use.
just thought you should be aware of one that some of us posters have been satisfied with.

I appreciate what you and Vannesa have done and I will be calling Sunray first thing Monday. It's things like this that the DIS is made for, IMO and I wish all members could be as helpful as both of you were.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

most of the regular posters here just want to help out and share our experiences. we all want to save money and have safe relaxing trips.

i see in your siggie your are a chicagoland homie.......me too.

if you call sunray and get an answering machine, leave a message.
i do the on line booking form and then they will send an email back within 48 hours. i left off the airline info on my request i sent in so i know sunray will contact me for that info.

i sent in my request so my spot will be held on the dates i need them.

once they drop you off at your hotel, they will give you a card with their name and phone number in case you need to contact them.

i did call and change the return time pickup last year after it was set in stone. as long as they have a reasonable advanced notice, they will work with you.

they do need the airline and flight number as they track the flights their customers come in on. in case the flight is delayed for some reason, they will be aware of it in advanced. you don't have to panic and worry if the car will be there when you scheduled it and are delayed due to weather.

if you ever leave chicago o'hare in the winter time, expect delays.......

Jodie is the person, Vanessa is the cat. If Vanessa is supplying all this great info, Jodie has one amazing cat!:lmao:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

i know jodie is the person.
but i love cats and get carried away........:rotfl2:

i am told her cat is as smart as she is :thumbsup2
