My BIL/SIL and their 2 yr old ds will be flying into Orlando and will need transportation to meet us @ VWL. What is the best transportation (economy versus ease of travel)? Shuttle? TOwn car? WHat are best groups to work with? Will the service accommodate a small child? (I *think* they will have their carseat with them.)

They will not need any additional transport once they get to VWL (so no need for a rental car).

All help appreciated!

They will most likely save money with a Towncar. I'm not sure what Mears charges for children. But if it is close to what they charge for adults then they will hit well over the $80-90 that it costs for a Towncar. We have used Tiffany a number of times and have always had a good experience. Plus you don't have to visit a number of other resorts before you get to VWL. It can take a long time to get from the airport with Mears. And I would bet that VWL is one of the last stops for most shuttles. I believe that Tiffany has carseats for children that need them. Just tell them when making the reservation.

the shuttle does not charge for a child under 3 but the only problem I had with the Mears shuttle is that it was not equipped to safely accomodate a car seat. No locking clips so the car seat was not safely attached and you are riding 20 minutes on the highway.

The cost for 2 adults would be around $50 but for the added safety, they might want to pay the extra for a town car for the safety and time issues. Our shuttle first stopped at several Downtown Disney hotels and then several Disney hotels before taking us to ours. Luckily, it gave our daughter time to nap so it wasn't such a big deal :)

Having traveled with a group that included a 5 year old and a 16 month old, my advice is to go with the towncar service. The convenience and safety issues far, far outweigh the small amount you will save. Little people seem to require lots of "stuff" (car seats, strollers, extra luggage, etc.) and they can be quite a handful at times (especially when tired or after being cooped up on an airplane). Why take the chance that your relatives will have to wait at the airport for a full van/bus, to say nothing about riding in a van without a properly secured safety seat for the little on?

Most of the towncar drivers will help with the luggage, and there is no waiting around for anyone else. Whether the service provides a safety seat or your relatives bring your own, you will have the comfort of knowing your little nephew is safely buckled in for the trip.

A one-way trip will run $45 plus tip in the towncar and $32 plus tip (2 adults) in the Mears shuttle. IMHO, the $13 difference isn't much to pay for the added safety and convenience.

Hope you have a wonderful time!
