Hi,

We are staying at DLP for a few days starting on the 11th of Feb. We are flying into CDG airport and arriving at terminal 3 at 17:20. I see there are buses to DLP at 17:45 and 18:15 or a train at terminal 2 at 18:06. I think getting the train would be the better option as I think I can get it cheaper, takes a lot less time and I have better chance of not missing it due delays in the airport.

On the way back checking in is between 16:15 and 17:45 and trains leave DLP at 15:43 and 16:03. Again I think i can get it cheaper, a lot faster and I would think there is less chance of delays.

Has anyone got any opinions on the train service between DLP and CDG, particularly with the timings?

Thanks
Stuart

Not yet tried the train myself but the speed to get to the park is very attractive.
We like the shuttle as 3 children and cases it is just an easier option for us :)

Reid makes a very good point - how much luggage will you have? If you use the train, you have to take the airport shuttle from T3 to T2, then get your luggage on and off the train and then take a hotel shuttle to the Santa Fe. The VEA is a door to door service and for the time being, with two young children, it's my preferred method of transport!!

I don’t think we will be taking a lot of luggage, I will need to check. Looking at a map of the terminal I think its only 300m between them.

How likely am I to get the 17:45 bus if the plane lands at 17:20? If I miss it I won’t get to the hotel until 7pm and my other consideration is that if I get the train I might be able to get 1hr in the park.

looking again im not sure if the map means the train station is 300m or the shuttles to the station are 300m away.
I cant post a link to the map as it message board wont let me.

I don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but I believe it's about 300 yards from exiting Terminal 3 to where you catch the shuttle to the station.

I don't think that could be done - so I'm sure if you're really keen on getting some extra time in the park, your enthusiasm will help you whisk that luggage on and off the TGV!!! ;)

If you want to email me the link, I can post it for you. I'm compiling a helpful travel thread, so I would like as much info as possible!

I am facing the airport park delema as well and am on a very limited budget so I really prefer what is the cheapest. I wrote disney and they told me that there were three options, the shuttle, rer and the TVR but said the rer could take up to an hour and a half. Since I want to visit the parks the day I land, I am leaning toward the shuttle or the TVR but tend to prefer trains. I checked the links they gave me but could find no prices because you could not buy tickets on line. Can anyone give me approximate prices? or tell me how to research this better?

Thanks a lot.

Travelbug - the VEA shuttle will cost you 14 euros per adult each way. The TGV costs from about 16 euros each way if you can book it as early as possible - which I think is about 4 months before. Sorry - I'm not sure when you are planning to go.

Thanks for link Stuart!

Airport maps - It's a great site!!

Just being able to read the tiny writing at the bottom of the T3 map, it does say 300 metres, which is the walk to the shuttle buses that then take you round the airport. I'm ashamed to say I don't know my yards from my metres!!!

Bexx, I think a yard and a meter are very close in length. A meter is only slightly longer than a yard.

Bexx--thanks, it looks like the shuttle is cheaper, I have two children do you know the price or about the price, do you know the name or address of the website for the shuttle? Do you think with the three of us a cab would be the same? I am always afraid to take a cab from any airport because the prices can vary both from bad traffic or dishonest drivers. Even honest drivers can get caught in traffic. Someone may have mentioned this, but I got the idea that the shuttle goes directly to hotels. I am staying at explorers and am going in march. By the way, if most of the info is on the website their address is just fine.

Sorry I can't help with taxi as we have never used them.
here is the link to the VEA shuttle site in English :)

Hello.
Have found some fab flights to CDG, and am thinking of going for it.
Only question is, we might get the VEA to the Holiday Inn, but what Terminal at CDG will we need to get it from?

Oh, another question... the times the bus goes back to CDG on our going home day (boo hoo!) don't really work out with the flight times, and it says we can get any bus and change at the coach station or something.

What's that all about?
I would hate to be stranded and miss our flight home!

How long should it take from CDG to Holiday Inn.
It will take longer than the train but I am thinking it might be easier.

You can catch the VEA from all the terminals at CDG - here are the timetables. The journey is about an hour on average - could be more or could be less!!! It can depend which terminal you land at.

The VEA shuttle visits all the Terminals. Most low cost flights from UK land at Terminal 3

Probably means get pink bus from hotel to park (bus station). Then get any VEA shuttle to CDG

Journey takes about 1 1/2 hours. Allow plenty of time for check in and also extra travel time if going at peak traffic time

Hope this is helpful :)

I think I am going to get the Bus from CDG as I dont think I will have enough time to get from terminal 3 to the TGV train for 18:06. I think i might get the train from DLP to CDG as VEA suggest you get the bus 2 1/2 hours before departure. I guess thats in case of traffic jams.

Do we need to pre-book the VEA?
Can I do it online and how soon in advance can I book it?
Do they take Credit Card?

If I pre-book, do I have to specify what time bus I want, or can we just any bus?

And, if it isn't a bus that goes direct to Holiday Inn, do I get off at DLP and then get a hotel shuttle or something to the hotel?

I don't think you can book the VEA in advance. They will take a credit card on the bus, but I think it's easier to pay cash. And you can travel on any bus you like - just queue up.

And, if it isn't a bus that goes direct to Holiday Inn, do I get off at DLP and then get a hotel shuttle or something to the hotel

That's the best thing! They go much more regularly to and from the coach station so it will work well for both journeys

I've just been measuring our luggage and I think we will be able to take it on as hand luggage. Hopefully not waiting for anything to come off the plane will let us get the 17:25 bus, might get a wee bit in the park after all :D
