In the planning phases for DL for Sept 2013. Is it possible to catch an airport shuttle from Grand Californian to John Wayne airport?

You can set it up directly with Super Shuttle. It's $10 + tip each way for a shared van.

Check with Guest Service for a taxi voucher once you're there. Last year, the voucher offered a flat rate of $32 from GCH to SNA.

I second this! It's so easy to step outside the GCH and grab a taxi. You don't have to call ahead or make reservations in advance. Ask for a flat rate taxi voucher at the Guest Services desk (NOT the reservation desk) the day before to make it simple. Guest Services is across from the reservation desk, down at the far end by the rock wall area of the fireplace.

If you did want to use a shuttle, I recommend Super Shuttle. Make an advance reservation online before you go, use coupon code uyr59 for each person in your group (in other words, a separate reservation for each) and the cost is only $7 each way plus tip. You can opt to pay the tip online as well, which is what I always do. Be sure to print a copy of your receipt(s) and bring them with you!

ETA: Super Shuttle will give you a window of time for returning to the airport. I don't like waiting at the airport for 2 hours so I give them a later flight time than I actually have so I don't have to get there so soon. I'm not saying everyone should do this, though. Anyway, they will tell you what time to be out in the shuttle loading area with a 15-minute window. For example, pickup will be between 10:00-10:15. It has been my experience that they're usually right on time or sometimes a little early.

Great! Any preference for one over the other?

I would use Super Shuttle to SNA. The Disneyland Express takes everyone to the Disneyland Hotel and then collects fares and put you on your final bus (they use several busses to pickup from the various hotels). Super Shuttle is quicker. Now for LAX, I would consider the Disneyland Express because it is more comfortable for the longer ride.

As long as you don't have a large party, Id use the super shuttle or disneyland express.

Either or will get the job done :)

I'll be staying at the GCH in August and flying into SNA. Does anyone know if the vouchers are only available going from the GCH to SNA or is there a way to also use them going from the airport to the hotel?

You can't get one for the airport to the hotel. I usually take supershuttle to the hotel and a taxi back. If my party is larger (3 or more), I take a taxi. They do have a flat rate to the hotel but it's often higher than the metered rate. We've paid $38 the last couple of times. It used to cost us more like $45 so I'm not sure why it's less now except that we took the driver's advice and went with metered rather than flat rate.

The taxi vouchers have a list of destinations it's valid for, originated from GCH only. Coming from the airport we've paid $50 with the meter rate plus tips. We took a minivan though wonder if that made a difference.

We prefer the Disneyland Resort Express. The GCH is the first stop from SNA, and on the way from GCH to SNA, they did make a stop at the DLH but we did not have to transfer buses and it only took a few minutes to collect the tickets.

I do not trust Super Shuttle to pick me up (or get me to the airport) when they say they are going to - too many bad experiences with them. We also prefer the DLRE because we have two kids that need boosters and can ride without them on the bus. The icing on the cake for me is that I am car safety crazy and will not put my kids into those 15-passenger van death traps. JMO. :)

Hum, not sure, but the flat rates offered are for trips originate from GCH.

You can get them from any of the DLR hotels and the voucher itself says that it's good from the DLR area to the airport. No hotel is specified. I got 2 on my last trip and saved one for next time, as it's good through 2012 ($32). I was staying at PPH when I got it that time, but they were out of vouchers so I went over to GCH and got one. My daughter asked for one separately so we ended up with 2 and that's how I saved one for next time.

I've gotten them from all 3 resort hotels, except as mentioned above I had to go over to GCH from PPH to get one the last time as the guest services desk at PPH was out.

Good to know. I have only gotten them from GCH and they had a list of destinations/prices departing from the hotel. We are a family of 4 and this works out better than the shuttles to SNA. :thumbsup2 I believe going to LAX is around $80.
