can anyone tell me has there been a noticeable difference in security ie:long wait at immigration etc,we went in october 2000 and it wasnt too bad,on average at orlando international how long does it now take to go through all formalitiespirate: ::MickeyMo :earsgirl: :bounce:

My last visit was in 2002.Immigration was no different.Still look through every passport. If your one of the first of the plane then no problem but if not, join the lines!

New were body scanners and hand luggage checks at the top of the little escalator just after you've handed your cases back after picking them up off of the carousel.Long lines which moved slowly.

Two years on they may have improved the system perhaps a more recent flyer will let us know.An average time well I suppose that depends on how near the front of the immigration line you are and how quick your luggage comes round.......

We've been the last 5 years and the only change we have noticed is that on the return journey pretty much everyone had their hand luggage checked just before boarding the plane - this didn't take long and wasn't a problem.

I think that Sanford is much quicker than MCO to get through but thats not because of any extra security checks but rather that bizarre system of having to collect your bags twice at MCO.

There is probably more checks on the baggage that is checked in and last year one of our bags had been opened. This year we didn't use padlocks but used bag ties that could easily be cut in case it happened again - but it didn't.

Immigration doesn't appear to be much different. 10 minutes last month at Newark

The problems arrise on the return trip where all hand luggage, coats and footwear are X-Rayed and everyone goes through metal detectors. There are long queues for all of this but if you check in the regulation 3 hours before departure there's no great problem.

I have heard 'on the grapevine' ;) that the iris & fingerprint system will be introduced from October 2004 at MCO & Sanford. It will be both index fingers and a nice picture of you face/iris.
