I've read the TSA website, and I still don't quite understand what the procedure is for liquid prescription medications. The site says we are allowed to ask for a visual inspection of such items. It also says that all such medications *must* be screened. I'm not a frequent flyer, so I'm confused. If you don't ask for a visual inspection, what do you do?

And what do most people do?

Just keep them in the individual packaging with prescription attached. If the agent sees them in your carryon, they will inspect them and see the label. You could also put them in the small bin and put them through the scanner that way.

I carry 6 of them when I fly, and I've flown several times since 8/10. "Inspection" consists of looking at the outside of the bottle to see if there is a scrip label on it. IME, the label is very seldom actually read.

The simplest thing to do to get through with no hassle is to put all of the meds in a ziploc with your name on it. When you are ready to go through, pull that bag out of your carryon and send it through in the bin with your shoes.
Easy peasy.

I nwant to bring triamici for my DS 4 ears. Is that OK or do I need a prescription medication. Dr. recomended the Triaminic.
Thanks.

I doubt that will be a problem, but you are limited to 4 oz. to carry on the plane.

Ah, thank you for the specific advice! Last time I flew, it was just shoes and electronics that were put in the bins. :)

I just flew and they said if it is a liquid medication you need to have the doctors prescription with it. But then I flew just two days after the London plane thing. They were very tight on things. They even took my solid deoderant and they took my kids handi snacks. So I would make sure you bring everything about your medication with you. Maybe even call the particular airline you are flying with.
