Since we're spinning off assorted airport topics, anyone have any good experiences with airport food.

The last time I was in Portland I had to go to Kennedy School straight from the airport and before leaving Portland, but I did have beer at the airport. There were some pretty good places and I'm told the prices are regulated so they're not typical ripoff prices.

Oakland has Gordon Biersch along with their garlic fries. They have a similar location in San Francisco, but I haven't been to that terminal - especially since the terminals aren't connected. Oakland also has Fenton's, which is a local ice cream place that's an institution in town.

We were in Cozumel for 3 weeks in January and were craving a hamburger. We had a layover in Houston on the way home and found a cute 50's diner. They truly had an amazing hamburger and the price really didn't break the bank for airport food. We will be eating there next January for sure.

I find myself in lots of Vino Volo locations, the food is consistently decent if not good, and it tends to me quieter.

Figs at LGA
Lots of good choices at BWI/Midway
Shula Burger and Landshark at FLL

I'll think of more.

We fly out of Logan in Boston - yup there are some good places to eat.

Jeremy Remy's Bar & Grill
Legal Seafood
Legal Seafood Test Kitchen

I normally don't eat at airports, but last summer I got some Panda Express or Manchu Wok at the food court at Chicago O'Hare. Yuck, Took a few bites and threw the rest away,

I think BWI (Baltimore) has a Phillips Seafood location that's pretty good.

I had a delicious bento box in the San Fran airport. I never thought I'd put the words delicious, bento and airport in the same sentence. :P

I mentioned the garlic fries, which I enjoy. I'd add that Listerine has a travel size bottle of mouthwash to go with it.

I had a raw hamburger during a long delay at the San Francisco airport. I vowed at that point to never eat beef again at an airport restaurant.

Having said that, I had a great experience at a rum bar at the Miami airport, and the Bojangles at the Charlotte, NC airport is way better than what's served at the fast food restaurants.

I love the Columbia, a Spanish restaurant at Tampa International, and DCA has a Greek place that I've enjoyed. Those are the ones that come to mind, but I'm not exactly a foodie so there have probably been others.

My habit has always been to eat at Chick Fil A in the airport if it is an option, mostly because I like it and there have never been any Chick Fil A's around here. Of course that doesn't work so well if my flight happens to be on a Sunday.

I love Coffee People in the Porland (PDX) airport
Other than that, I stick to the chains ie McD's, Wendys, Panda Express etc as every time I am in an airport and eat at some "well known" or "signature" offshoot I am always disappointed so I gave up and stick with what I know.

I've had amazing airport food, but I always research it beforehand.

The best places I've been:
Frontera @ ORD - Mexican food by Rick Bayless - Both breakfast and lunch
Legal @ BOS - Lobster Omelette for breakfast, Lobster Roll for lunch
Shake Shack @JFK
I also ate at a seafood bar that served oysters and crab legs, forgot the name though, also at JFK
III Forks Steakhouse @ LAX - delicious burgers

I love One Flew South in Terminal E in ATL. Delicious food and excellent cocktail menu.

Cask and Larder just opened up at MCO on the SWA terminal to RAVE reviews...

Heard if you ride in first class, the food is something else. But can't afford first class! Go figure!

I've been to a few first/business class lounges that were great, but the food was just snacks. I've been in first class once. The booze was superb. They had caviar. However, the meals were more or less glorified reheated dinners although they were served on real plates instead of plastic trays.
