Airport checkin question when only taking carry-ons

So, we've never flown before with only our carry-ons. We've always had at least one checked bag. Our next trip will be on Midwest, and since it's a shorter stay than usual, we'll just have our carry-ons and save the $20 per checked bag.

If we're able to print our boarding passes, can we skip the airport check in, and just proceed to the gate?

Thanks!

As long as you have your boarding passes, you can head straight to the security line and your luggage will be scanned there. From there, off to the gate. If your airport has the airline kiosks, you can also print your boarding passes from there with you confirmation #. Have a great time.

Hope you have a blast! Since other poster answered your question...

We only travel with carry on & find it very easy once you get the hang of the liquids rule.

Just make sure to check with your airline & in some cases you may have to check to see which aircraft is used. (some airlines depending on which plane is being used makes a difference in what the carry on size allowances are)

Thanks for all the info! As I said, this is a shorter trip, so I feel comfortable that we can handle it with just carry-ons. I'm looking forward to not having checked bags to worry about.

Thats one of the things I like about just doing carry on. You never wonder if the bag was misdirected or lost. You can have your stuff when you want it, and the major thing for me is that I have a really nice suitcase and the way most baggage is handled..being thrown, etc... My suitcase looks as good as the day I bought it (6 trips ago) not one mark on it:wizard:

We are doing carry on only for the first time too. So we can take one carry on size suitcase and a backpack each correct? I am figuring out the 3-1-1 rules so if I want to bring mini bottles of liquiour do I put them in my bag w/ the suntan lotion and whatnot? Thanks!

Yes, all your liquids have to be in that quart-size bag.

Just be aware that since the airlines started charging for bags, EVERYONE is bringing the biggest carryon allowed...which means good luck finding a spot. They're starting to take action against folks with bags anywhere close to the size limit as well. All this does is delay flights even further when they have to unload bags and check them at the gate.

And also be aware that you will not be able to consume that liquor on the plane.
