We have gotten quotes from Dreams Unlimited and Disney Cruise Line. We did the quotes without airplane tickets. But now we are reconsidering and maybe including them in our package. If we do this will we have more protection if something happens to the flight?

Also is vacation insurance smart to get? We are looking at going on the cruise next Sept the only problem could be if something comes up at my DH's work. He gets moved around to different projects all the time so we can't forsee where he will be until like June of next year. So if we do have to cancel will the vacation insurance get us our full amount back.

Thanks for the help.

I would check out the details of vacation insurance carefully to be certain what you're getting for your dollars. Check with DCL or dreams but can't you cancel with a full refund up to 60 days before you sail? That should give you enough time to find out about DHs work situation.

About airfare, you probably have a little more protection against airline problems booking with DCL but since we're DEFINITELY in the "come the day before" group we don't worry as much about that.

We are driving because it was $400/person for flights/transfers through disney. I have also read that you don't pick your own flights so you may not be happy with when you leave. I just felt that I could arrange our time better. We then added a few days before to do other stuff so it became a non-issue.

I would book air separately, you can get better deals and arrange your own schedule. as said above check the details of the insurance. You do have 60 days to cancel with no penalty so that should help. go to insuremytrip.com to compare different insurance packages.

Just got back from the Magic. What a trip! Almost didn't make it as we got stuck in Cincinnati (sp) airport, got the airlines to send a plane to Melborne and Disney picked up there and took us to the ship. We called Disney trying to get information about the Orlando airport and our flights, and they were no help at all. If we ever go ago (and I have my doubts after this past week) we would definitely book our own flight. There are numerous direct flights from our town to Orlando and we would not use any flights with stops.

Also, we were on Delta and after exiting the ship, we stood in line amost an hour to check in to Delta and get our luggage checked, then stood another hour for a bus to come to get us to the airport. We had rush through the airport to get out flight, then we got stuck going through Cinnancit on the way back, and had to run through that airport. We had not time for lunch and my daughter was very hungry by time we hit our home town. It was HOT this morning, and standing outside first waiting to check in, then waiting on transportation, was not fun.

I originally booked my air through DCL for our land/sea, then I checked into booking my own air ... turns out that it was nearly half what DCL was charging us AND I got to choose our flight times. So I cancelled the air through DCL and purchased it separately.

if you can fly Spirit airline-do it! we have round trip air for 4 for 523.00 total non stop from detroit to orlando MCO

booking seperately is probably going to be a lot cheaper. if you wait until southwest airlines prices come out (if you have southwest) the prices will be pretty good. When southwest puts out thier prices other airlines will also come down in prices.

Trip insurance wouldn't pay for cancellation due to work related activities, but it would pay if flights were cancelled and you couldn't get to the ship. It would also pay if you got sick or injured while on the vacation, either to see the doctot, get airlifted to an island, or ome for treatment.

Thanks for all the help. We've decided to just book flights ourselves and go down to orlando on friday. We're just going to watch Delta's and Airtran's prices. We leave in Atlanta so if Airtran comes out with deals so will Delta and we can choose between the two.

Thanks again for the help. This board is awesome.
