I have some hand sanitizer and some sunscreen that's hooked onto a loop on the back of my backpack. The sunscreen came on a hook, and the sanitizer came on a rubber hook thing. They are both under 3oz. I plan on carrying the backpack on the plane.
Do I need to take them off and put them in one of those see-through plastic bags?

For that matter, ANY liquid I take on (I have extra small 2.5 oz. of sanitizer I am taking in the bottom of my backpack) does it have to be in one of those plastic bags?

Yes, all liquid items must fit in one quart sized baggie. You can't take more than one baggie per person. Unless the rules have changed since I flew last summer. ;) If so, I'm sure someone will set me straight.

Yes, it all must fit in a quart size or smaller clear plastic baggie/ziplock.

Have a fun trip!

Unless it is medical, all liquid has to go in the ziploc. Unless things have changed since I last flew in August.

The PP is correct. All liquids/gels (with the exception of medical and/or baby exemptions) need to be in your single baggie.

I found this kind of funny. My DH was at Disney World early last December to see the children of some friends of our perform at Candlelight. When he checked out of his hotel room, he took the 3 small bottles of shampoo that they had left in the room and threw them into his backpack with the rest of his belongings. He left the hotel, went to the airplane, got on a plane and came home. The backpack went through the scanner and nobody said a word. He totally forgot they were even in there or that they were supposed to be in a baggie. Sometimes I wonder about "all our security" at the airport.

Does this count what is in your purse too?

Any and all liquids or gels that you carry on the plane need to be in containers 3 oz. or less in size (a half-full 4 o.z container is not OK) and all need to be consolidated into one quart-sized zip lock bag per person. So, you can't have things in your purse and other things in a suitcase.

As a PP noted, TSA doesn't always spot things and liquids do get through without being in the bag, in oversized containers, etc. That doesn't change the rules, however.

Thanks! I was hoping the stuff in the purse didn't count towards the limit. UGH! I've got to re-do my purse then.
