Are markers allowed in carry-ons? Or would they be considered liquids? I've not heard anything about ballpoint pens or markers or what have you. Also, lip gloss is now allowed, correct?

If I wore a pair of capris with several decorative metal zippers and snaps LAST August and didn't set off the metal detectors, I shouldn't have a problem THIS August, should I? The same pants will react the same way, correct, since as far as I know, metal detectors haven't changed? All snaps and zips are totally visible, so if I DID set it off, they'd just wave the wand over me and those areas would beep and they'd see the zips and snaps and let me go, correct?

What's up with underwire bras these days? I heard women were being advised to not wear them, but again, I've never had a problem in the past with setting off the detectors!

I'm flying out of Rochester, NY, btw.

Thanks!

We just got back yesterday from MCO (we didn't go to WDW this time--went to visit my dad in Daytona Beach, WDW is in November). I'm not sure about markers, but I had 2 ballpoint pens and they were not a problem. I don't think lip gloss is allowed, but if it is a solid like lipstick or chapstick it is. My niece had to remove her belt that had metal studs on it before she walked through the detector. We really didn't have any major problems or delays at either BWI (Baltimore) or MCO. I'm not sure about the bras, but my daughter almost always wears an underwire and she didn't have any problems. I did tell the girls not to wear the bras with gel inside, just in case.

I haven't worn a bra without a wire since high school, and have NEVER had the wires set off a metal detector. Most are plastic rather than metal these days anyhow.

The markers houldn't be a problem. I had a Mini-Sharpie in my purse last week and nothing was said.

I have not had a problem with Markers and/or pens since this all started and I have flown 4 times since the new scare.

The sensitivity of metal detectors change from time to time. They may be higher since the scare but I would think that you would be ok. If you do set off the detector you will get the "Specail" security screening which includes the full wand/pat procedure. Should only take between 2 & 5 minutes extra.

No antibacterial hand gel allowed...ick! We live on that in the airport and on the plane. But yet they will allow "personal lubricants"...go figure.

They allow corkscrews and nail files, but no lip gloss.

Hey quick question. Does anyone know if babywipes or clorox wipes are a no no. I am a germaphobe. LOL If I cant have my hand gel, I must wipe with clorox wipes.... Also, my dd still has to use a wipe when she goes to the potty. We have tried to ween off them but she says " Mommy dry toilet paper dont clean my butt" LOL And she says it very loud in the restroom. It always makes everyone laugh. So, that is why I asked about babywipes.. Well, they are the charmin fresh mates.

Thanks

Jessica
