Airmiles for Flights??

Has anyone used their Airmiles for flights? How hard is it to get the flight you are looking for? WJ is not showing the flight yet, but will be within the next week. Should you book as soon as it shows?

Hi Dennise-

I used my airmiles for my return flight to Orlando in January. I was able to book in last August. When I called to redeem the miles the agent said that I made a good choice by booking early because Orlando is a popular destination for redeeming miles and they can book up quickly.

It was very easy to book my flight and I was happy that I was able to book with WestJet because I promised myself I would never fly Air Canada and I have managed to keep that promise so far!

I was able to book a flight with a connection through Toronto going down (I wanted to leave on a Wednesday) and a direct flight back on a Saturday. The agent said the Saturday flights are direct. I just had to pay for the taxes. Some people say they don't like using airmiles for flights because you have to pay taxes but I didn't mind.

The flight was easy and I had no issues.

Susan R: We do the same thing, go on a Wed and back on Saturday. We did the WJ direct this past April. Used Continental going down, through Newark, didn't have to handle bags until we got to Orlando.

We have often used our airmiles for flights including Westjet. The Orlando flights are popular and do go fast so we usually book super early!

Are you usually seated at the back of the plane?

No, you do seat selection the same as everyone else. I think with WJ you can pay and get seat selection early or free 24 hrs ahead of time.

I booked our Sept/Oct flights to Orlando in February..had no problem with availability..you can also book AM flights online now..it was very quick and easy.

We are looking at Orlando to Halifax for April 14, they aren't in the system yet. Two more weeks. I would love to do a September trip again this year, still working on DH, prices are very reasonable.
