Sending prayers your way. The train my parents are on this morning also struck and killed someone who apparently jumped in front of it.A gentle reminder to everyone about the fragility of life, the need to reach out for help if you need it and the importance of checking in on those around you who might be struggling.
Sadly, the train that I was on this morning struck and killed a pedestrian before we had even left the city limits. It was 6:30 in the morning, in an area of the city that no one would be out just taking a walk. We sat on the train for 3 hours, watching the police cars arrive and the investigation take place. Made it up to the hospital and back to Union just in time for the train home. I was feeling in command of myself, oddly surprised in fact, until I sat on the train to come back home. The gravity of the situation hit me at that point and I'm in a bit of a fog now.
Indeed a reminder to slow down and enjoy what you have and who you have.
