Airmiles Armchair Chatter

I got 19 miles from Surveys on Friday. One survey said it was 20 minutes but it took 40. I was ready to drop it and got to the point where I wasn't even reading it any more, just randomly picking answers. DH got gas, I bought some lottery tickets and I also got 12 miles from receipts. So I should be well covered on that one.

In other drama....
We still have not decided on what to book for a vacation. The crew rate is still available and can be booked tomorrow if I want to go through with it. DH has selected that option with extra days added on before and after. He suggested renting a car after and driving up to WDW. However, just two nights ago there was more drama here at home that now has us questioning if it's ok for us to be away. When I was filling him in on what had just taken place DH just looked at me and said take the girls and go somewhere.

Ok gang…I pulled the trigger and booked the Disney Destiny for April. The deal was just too good to pass up. Now I need to figure out flights and hotels. We are going to do some extra days but I don’t know if I want to do it before or after. My current thought is to fly to MCO on the Wednesday night. Spend two days doing some shopping and maybe go to WDW then take the train to Ft Lauderdale either late Friday night or first train Saturday morning. We embark Saturday. Then thinking of spending a day in Ft Lauderdale after the cruise and fly home from there. Flights from there less expensive and times are great. OR could do the opposite 🤷🏻‍♀️

No matter which way you do it, I want you to know.........I'm jealous! :goodvibes
Can't wait for you to report back. I'm not into the villains thing but i wasn't into the whole Treasure vibe until I actually sailed her. Might just be my favorite now. Have fun planning. Sometimes it's the best part.

OK I'm feeling left out I didn't get any of those. Sometimes my account gets posting a while after you have mentioned them. 🤞

I got the 50 from Amazon (i assume it was the recent spend $20 on anything get 50 AM) and 3 x 25 for those others. I believe they were ones that you had to opt into but they disappeared within hours. Odd that they posted but I will take it.

If you have any input as to what to do before or after the cruise I would really love to hear it. Have never been to Ft Lauderdale before and feel like I should see a little but have no idea where to go or what to do. It's mighty tempting to just go home on debark day but only because of the ease of hopping on a bus at the port and then there is an 11am flight. DH just asked me if I have things figured out and flights booked. I mean he's just along for the ride, basically my valet. Didn't he toss another wrench in the mix....go to WDW after the cruise(Thursday) and stay until Monday.

I'm not at all into the hero/villains thing but really felt like this was an opportunity to see the new ship. How could I pass up a 55% discount. DD said last night that sales must be very low for that date because that's when crew rates come up and never more than 1-2 weeks in advance. So lets cross our fingers that it stays low capacity. I just snagged Palo on Pirate night and there are several options for every night which is a shock. I really hate that you have to cancel what you book in order to just see if anything else is available. I would like a slightly later time slot.

Please, everyone chime in with your thoughts or experiences on going a few days early or staying after.

For Ft. Lauderdale, I have nothing. We stayed at a hotel nearish to the port. There was a little outdoor mall area right there that didn't have much but it was a place to spend a bit of time and grab food. Mostly we just stayed by the pool, we were only there for a few days. Hopefully others can chime in and help you.
Now, I think your DH might be on to something. Why not head on up to WDW and spend a few days? Even if it's not time in the parks, time at one of the resorts is always a vacation. Disney Springs is a destination in itself. Yup, I like that idea.
Right now I'm getting last minute stuff done. Leave for the train station at 11 and fly to the DR tomorrow. Happy collecting while I'm gone and see you later!

I've normally only flown in the day before and left the day the cruise ends. We had one late night flight after a cruise and did one of the airboat alligator tours, that was fun. When I have done cruises from Port Canaveral I tend to prefer to do Disney at the end, rather than the start. I hate starting a cruise with sore feet and tired from the park days. However, if you like beaches then I think Ft Lauderdale, and Miami, have quite a few and I believe there is some kind of boat tour that goes along to stop at a few places, you can get off/on to check out multiple places along the way.

I used an Expedia promo back in December 25AM per $35 spent. I booked flights and a room for August. I though I read that points are awarded right away...not after the vacation.

Anyone know how this should work?

So we always stay at WDW after our cruises, since we are down there anyways. We did a NYE cruise (placeholder) recently and we ended up flying down two days early and then staying two days after to get the least expensive flight possible. We did Disney Springs and resort hopping to see the Christmas decorations before our cruise, then we went to Epcot/Disney Springs after our cruise ended. I redeemed air miles for our four Epcot tickets. Unfortunately didn’t have enough for a second park or we would have done it also.
