Airmiles Armchair Chatter

They did NOT spell out exactly what would happen, yes it said we wouldn't lose value but they did not specifically say that 95 miles would convert to 1500. Trust me, I had a mini panic until I found confirmation buried in an Instagram post. I read deeply, and just did that again it does say we won't lose value. However, some of us need things spelled out clearly. Currently in one of my deepest depressions, just started a new round of treatments and my executive function is basically non-existent. I'm not trying to be argumentative just sharing my experience.
Just want to sent love and support. Hope your world gets lighter every day. 🌷

Give me your thoughts….

DH and I are trying to figure out a vacation. So much has been going on since the fall that has had us saying, we can’t go right now. Things are looking good now and it’s way past time for a holiday. I think I want to take another cruise. After going on the Magic last year I have a whole new outlook on cruising. Maybe it was the smaller ship or maybe it was not being in DD’s schedule. IDK, but it was great. Soooo…
I feel like this is what I want to do. DH has not been a fan of our previous cruises but after I came back from the Magic and told him about it, he wants to go again. I’ve looked at a bunch of different options, different lines and unfortunately the ones that I’m interested in port wise are a lot more than I want to spend and I feel like I just can’t do all the research to do something new right now. So that leaves us with another Disney cruise. I found 2 four night sailings (back 2 back) that are a great price ($3100) but pretty much nothing port wise. Then in the midst of that DD sees a crew rate on the Destiny for April. It’s 5 nights for $1600 which is a 55%discount. Even though I don’t really have any interest in the hero’s and villan’s theme it is an opportunity to see the new ship. I feel like I should do this as it’s a rare deal. Port wise it’s Cozumel and Castaway. Best margarita of my life was in Cozumel ! Alternatively, we would do an all inclusive probably in Mexico.

What do you all think? DH is being no help at all. He just says which one do you want to do.

My thoughts, worth nothing but here goes.
Two four night cruises will get you to a new tier quicker so that's a plus. Is that $3100 each or for both? I am going to assume each but if it is for both, jump on that quick.
the Destiny is a great price for 5 nights however with that being said, on a 5 night pretty much the ship is really the main event. You mentioned two ports but you will mostly be on the ship. The theme of it doesn't make me want to rush out to sail her but with that price, I would do it.
The Magic was my first sailing and I love how quaint she is. Loved sailing her and hope to again sometime in the future.
While I myself am dying to do another sailing with anyone we find ourselves doing more Caribbean vacations. We did the DR in December and are going to do it again in nine days. All inclusive is always a great way to go and you would have a blast in Mexico but would you miss not be on a cruise? How would you feel? Sort that and you will know which way to go.
My niece and her family are on the Wish right now and I'm so very jealous. It has taken me to the DCL page and looking at pricing myself. I want to get back on the Treasure. That ship fascinated me. The bars, the Moana show, the Coco dinning room, everything about that ship blew me away and I did not think I would enjoy it at all. Shows what we know, lol.
What ever you decide have a great vacation. Pick what will make you happy. This winter has been so harsh. Something to look forward to brings a bit of sunshine into our lives, doesn't it?

Yes, the $3100 is total, not each. The first 4 nights is RT from San Diego but the second ends in Vancouver. I feel like I should go for the Destiny though just because it’s a rare deal. Rare in the sense that nothing comes up on the new ships and nothing that far out. All the crew discounts are typically 1-2 weeks in advance but also, the price is never that low. Previously we have only seen 35-40% off. I wanted a back 2 back to have at least a full week but also for Castaway status….not that making gold really gives you much.

My problem is that I want to do all of it…the cruises and the all inclusive. I’m always torn between being reasonable with the money so that I won’t feel guilty about my next trip.

I went to the survey site today to see how many surveys are going to be available during the promotion and it says there are no surveys available. Anyone else experiencing this?

I just checked, I have surveys available. Try logging in again tomorrow and see if you have some then. Update something in your profile, see if that helps to generate one.

Current plan of action…trying to book the Destiny! DH said he wanted to do that one and then we can drive to Orlando for a few days after so that I can go to all my favourite places. The crew rate could be gone by now, DD is working on it. If that doesn’t work then I will book the back 2 back which is not a crew rate.

Just as proof I married well. DH said I should arrange a parks trip with DD as soon as her comp season is over. That would be end of May 😃

So now on to seeing what options I have for redeeming some AM on this cruise. My first thought was Disney Evouchers to cover my onboard expenses. Maybe the hotel.
