Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Had DH stop at shell on our way to physio and was pleasantly surprised the gas was $1.18 which is the average here. Only needed half tank but told him to fill it up. Used the Shell app to pay and the gas went down to $1.06. Because of Mastercard maybe? Just checked my AMs account and received 215 AMs altogether for different offers. Gas was only $33 to begin with. I feel like I robbed them, lol.

Would someone please explain how to redeem my AM at Shell these days? I haven't tried since our Shell switched to prepaid. Tonight I walked in wanting to use my miles (I have $70), but the cashier said I can't redeem in the store anymore. He said I had to use the Shell app or my card at the pump. He couldn't explain how though.

I need to order a new AM card. The plastic came completely off the back and it's useless.

I do it at the pump, swipe CAA card, swipe AM card, select the amount of gas I want to get, prepay with my card, it then asks how much AM I want to use if I have cash ones available, and voila. Keep in mind the amount you approve will include the AM you redeem, so if you set it for $50 and redeem for $20 AM you are paying $30 in card payment. Hopefully that makes sense.

I don't usually use the app but it would be similar I think, your cards are already in there so just choose the pump you are using and how much gas you want, and select how many cash AM you want to redeem for.

what is going on with this weather! Warm! cold! warm again! cold again! will it ever be summer? I'll probably complain it's too hot then :D I got my dog his summer haircut, now he has extra blankets in his bed at night to make his little nest. Ah well, it's cold enough at night that the cats are back on the bed with me. They don't cuddle in the summer when it's too hot.

I hope we get a good bonus offer soon, and that the 20x from a couple weeks ago posts soon too. Not that I really know what I'm saving the AM for but I like to get some kind of bonus for my spending. I do miss dollarama as a MC partner, the receipt offers are not as good.

I too am freezing 🥶 today. We took a road trip (first weekend with my new car ) to a garden centre that is 40 minutes away because my SIL said they would have the plants I’m trying to find. Unfortunately we went full on popsicle mode trying to hunt through the place. I will say it was an interesting place. They grow everything and every pot no matter the size is $10. It’s perennial only. Sad to report I could not find what I’m looking for. I have a lot of bare patches in the garden from things not surviving the winter. I’m stumped as to what to do now.

Anyone know where to get Evening Primrose in the GTHA? I had it all along the fence on one side and only a little bit came back this year. It’s been there for 26 yrs. Some of my favourite pictures of my kids (when they were little) are of the two of them sitting in the grass with all the yellow flowers. OMG…I’m getting so sentimental lately. We stopped for lunch on the way home and I saw a young couple with a newborn and it made me think of those days.

This is the first Primrose that pops out for me every year.
She is very fussy and refuses to split ,,,babies will die off when I try.

No, that is Primrose, which is different.

This is Evening Primrose….
IMG_2979.jpeg

It has yellow flowers in June on tall skinny stalks and in fall the leaves turn bright red. It’s grows about 18 inches tall.

Question
Dryer is on it's last legs
It has been repaired once only a year ago and they said it wouldn't last much longer. I see no sense in doing another repair call. $$$
I can get a half decent one right now for an ok price... do I wait or buy?
