Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Does anyone have any info on booking a DCL cruise with AM? While looking at what my flight and hotel options are and how many miles they might be I realized that cruises are an option as well. I can see that DCL is there but when you try to go through with the booking it says you need to call....I wasn't going to book right then but wanted to go through as far as possible to see what it might look like. I got really excited thinking that maybe I can use approx $1000ish in miles to discount the cruise without having to pay a large fee. The original plan was to book flights (and maybe hotels) but what is currently available would basically have me paying $360 and 4000+ miles to only save the cost of one ticket which is $400. Assuming there is no large fee for the cruise booking, like a flight, it would make more sense to book the cruise with a discount, then pay OOP for the flight and hotel. I will get points for the flights and hotels which is also money down the line.

I have booked several none DCL cruises with Airmiles , you get to the end and it asks how many Airmiles you want to use , last time I did it was 909 Airmiles for $100 CAD credit. You can’t use AM to pay taxes and fees and there is a booking fee of $30. If you want to make any changes it is $50 per person per change so that could add up , if you think there might be price drops or date changes it might be good to book on your own. Also you have to pay in full at booking and mine have been non refundable no matter how far or close I have booked .

I wanted to add transfers and tips in advance so I called and had very little wait and they were added right away with no fees but another cruise I wanted to remove the transfers and that was when I was told about the $50 fee so I just kept the transfers.

I don't know if this will post properly, but I found this Preview of an Orlando booking offer today on AM site. Doesn't help us, as we're not travelling back "home" until Sept. 2025, but hopefully some of you looking to redeem miles can take advantage!

I can't find this offer and the link won't work. Where exactly is it on the AMs site?

Never mind, I found it. Seems I always find what I'm looking for exactly two minutes after I ask for help. :o

This is what I was hoping to hear. I figured the taxes and fees were not included and that's fine. The cruise is $4100 USD and I would probably only use 9090 miles which would be a rough equivalent of what air and hotels are going to cost. Then all I need to do is get back and forth to the port. Even if I book with DCL it's paid in full and non refundable so that part doesn't matter. I'm spoiled and thus very disappointed that there is no crew discount so if I can bring my grand total to around $5500CAD I will feel much better about the full price thing. There is a military discount for one of the dates I'm considering...boy oh boy, it's a great price. The Canadian discounts are very minor and only apply to a few cruises.

Now that Orlando offer has thrown a monkey wrench into my plan. I have to think it through again.

My Dollarama bonus didn't post even though my 1 AM was rewarded for Aug. 31.

Maybe people who purchased on Aug. 30 posted?
