I bought our tickets in March, I requested window seats at that time and was assured we were getting them and getting the best seats possible.

Of course I find out tonight that not only did we not get window seats, we got the only row on the WHOLE plane that doesn't have windows at all!!

Alaska also lost our seat assignments for a week or two after they issued us a credit, when they put us back in seats I told them we wanted window seats they said no problem and put us back in the row without windows! :sad2: :headache:

I am so not thrilled right now......

Where's a whine smilie when I need it?! I'm sure it will be fine, I just wish they would have told us sooner so we could have made changes when we had the ability to, now we're stuck. They told me time and time that we were getting window seats - it took seatguru.com to tell me we weren't! :earseek:

Check in early at the airport and they may be able to give you window seats. Also some have reported that seat guru was wrong.

The airline might have changed aircraft also...that would affect your seat assignments. I agree with OP that you should get to the airport early and check with them the day of departure.

Good luck and have fun!:earsboy:

Hope maybe you'll still be able to see out the windows in the row in front of you...:sunny:

Have you tried to call the airline and ask them if there is anywhere else on the plane you can move to? Not sure what kind of plane you are on but it sounds like it could be an MD80? The back row on the MD80 series of aircraft is very very noisy. If it isn't an MD80 that I assume it is a 737 which also have one row missing one window. Those seats are forward of the wing and while there is no window, they aren't bad seats. If that doesn't work, as has been suggested, get to the airport early and see if they can switch you then. Good luck.

My heart goes out to you. Last year we went to WDW. DGS (age 5) was sick and spent day 1 in the ER at Celebration. We also had the Docs on Call doctor out to the resort. By the time he was feeling a lot better, it was clear that the night before we were to fly home, I was coming down with a killer flu (not stomach flu, the other kind with fever, sore throat, Bronchitis). It was just DGS and I, so there was no one to help out.

The only thing that got me through thinking I could make it home ok, was knowing it was just a simple 2.75 hour flight home. I could rest and DGS would be fine, after all, he had a window seat. ;) You can imagine my shock when I got to row 11 (or whatever it was) only to find out we are in the only row that does NOT have a window. If I was able to laugh, I would have, as it was just the finishing touch on our WDW trip from hell. I was too sick to cry, also. :sad2:

Our saving grace was a little boy about the same age as DGS sitting right behind us. Even that got to me a bit much, though, because I had to prevent my DGS from being too rambuncious with the little boy. :hyper: But boy oh boy, that window would have been a lifesaver.

These were seats were booked by a TA. I am not sure if she had any control over this, but I decided not to use her again because of it. That said, I would follow the advice of others here and get to the airport early. I also heard from Barb of the Castaway Club, that seatguru.com is not always accurate.

I empathise with TB&E'sMum on the desire to seat at least of of my children in the window seat. Having been a Geography major in my Undergrad career, I like to use it as an opportunity to teach geography (we follow the landforms along on the map), or if it's cloudy, meteorology. I was so proud of my 4 yr old DD last time as we flew from Boston to MCO and she correctly identified the Chesapeake Bay and the Delmarva Peninsula (yep, that's why we studied the map honey); maybe she'll be able to spell them one day.;)

Must have been frustrating knowing that you need the distration that the window provides and seemingly no way to get it.

Good luck!

Seatguru.com is definitely not accurate for ATA (not sure about other airlines), and that is being compounded by ATA's reconfiguration to business class, which is going on until Dec. If anyone has any questions about them, feel free to PM me. We do a round trip on them at least every other week, and we've seen the new configuration on one out of the three plane styles (we'll see what kind we're on this weekend).
I don't know about other airlines, but you can change your seats with ATA's web check-in. Normally it works, but with the reconfiguration we got ours yanked for people who got to the airport WAY after we checked in and they would not honor our boarding passes. Getting to the airport early may be your best bet, and you might want to try calling your airline every few days too (find out when they release the seats if you can...American told me when to call once, but I can't remember the time span).

The airline confirmed that there aren't any windows on that row.

We're going to get there early and see what happens

I do know from hearing from many people SeatGurus charts for ATA are incorrect due to seat changing but I know from expearience most other airlines charts are very accurate. I know deltas and united and northwests are for sure since I fly them most of the time.
