Airline tickets/timing

I thought I heard once that some airlines in the wee hours of the morning may run cheap fares. Anyone ever heard of this?

I have to say, I monitored tickets for a specific trip for MONTHS and finally hit the jackpot one night when I was sleepless and checked at 2:00 am. The cheap seats were all gone by next midmorning, too... I checked back after buying just out of curiosity.

Did you get the good fare directly from the airline website?

Yes. There were only two possible airlines I could choose from so I was monitoring both. But I'll definitely be checking whenever I'm up late next time I'm looking for cheap fares.
