Airline ticket prices!!!! What a deal..

I got my ticket through delta, on their website. But I will be flying on UsAir- I guess they merged?? It was a 2 day sale- just keep searching, things pop up all the time. My flight is direct and it leaves at 8 am. It was a steal!

Well, all I can say is GOOD FOR YOU!!!! That is great and I am happy for you. Thanks for sharing. :)

The *only* reason I am going to WDW this summer is because of a fare of $115 (after all the extras) from PIT to MCO, combined with the FTP. (Looks like someone beat me, though!)

I don't know if you all know about this, but I use the fare watcher at www.travelocity.com. I always have fare watchers set up for the 4 major airports within 2 hours of my house to MCO. I got an e-mail with this cheap fare and had the whole trip booked by the end of the night. The fare was only posted at that price for a couple of days.

I once got my brother a fare from San Fransisco for $200. It was only available for 24 hours.

my flight has gone up a little more than $400 in less than a month. According to my handy-dandy farewatcher on Travelocity, Indianapolis is the only airport in the area with anything reasonable. IND has been holding at $123 for weeks, if not months. I think the combination of ATA and SWA keep things very competitive there.

Wondering of the higher numbers are a trend for the rest of the summer.....

We found an awesome deal through Alaska Airlines. They just started a new flight from Seattle direct to Orlando and the price was $99.00 each way. For a little over $400.00 we were able to book a flight for 5 to Orlando. Three tickets we used frequent flyer miles for and two we paid for. :D

I feel like a traitor to my beloved Southwest Airlines. They serve us so well with their internet specials but for about the same price ($245 round trip Sacramento to MCO after taxes and fees) I got American with their extra seatroom and better departure times. Best of all, the length of the trip is 7 hours instead of 10 hours each way. We are going in November and several airlines had comparable rates. Happy hunting out there...plenty of great fares to be had.;)

WAH you all are making me jealous! I cant find anything from Colorado Springs to MCO for less than $300! OUCH some days it is over $400! My parents decided to come with us on our cruise in October, and I have been watching the fare for a few days and it doesnt want to come down :-( Do you experts think it will go down after summer? Or should I *gulp* buy the tiks at $332 when I can?

That's a very hard call. Because Colorado Springs isn't served by any of the super-low fare airlines, the bigger airlines don't need to lower their rates to compete. Anyone seen lower rates between Colorado Springs and MCO? Or are you willing to drive to a more distant alternative airport for cheaper fares?

Unfortunately no. My mom says it is not worth the hassle of driving to Den, paying parking for 7 days and worrying about not being able to get into to DENVER due to snow, we are travelling in October.

Your mom is probably right. But the difference in airfares shouldn't spoil your trip. Look at it as a small price to pay for living in a beautiful, less crowded part of the world and still being able to access a small, convenient airport. If the only airport available were Denver and the fares were cheaper, one might be wishing there was an airport in Colorado Springs and thinking that it would be worth paying extra for it.

So, would you recommend buying now at the $332 price? Or waiting it our more?

Personally I would book United at the current fare of 343.00 and apply the 15% off Entertainment coupon for United bringing it to 292.00. Alternatively, put it on Travelocity's farewatcher and see what happens to the fares. They will email you with changes in the rates. I have extra Entertainment coupons and if you PM me with mailing address and number of people flying, I'll send you the United coupons you need.

Hey I have the current ENT book, how the heck do I jump on that deal> I would definitely book at $292 pp!!!! Tell me tell me! LOL

Where do you see that fare? Its not in their site.

Travelocity's lowest fares feature quoted me the United price of $343. Then just follow the instructions on the United coupon in your book. Call the number on the coupon or go to United.com
If you call, quote them the rate Travelocity gave you, ask them to meet it or beat it and that you want to apply the ENT coupon. That should work just fine since it is an advanced purchase published fare.

Darn, it didn't work. She just replied with a snooty, well if they have them there for that price, buy them there!:(

I must have talked to that same United rep! Grrrrr.

I know how you feel about airfare from smaller airports. We fly out of Williamsport, PA. (Sometimes there are more deer than aircraft!) We could get lower airfare out of PHL or BWI, but the convenience of having a small, very uncrowded airport 20 minutes from our home is well worth the difference.
Enjoy your trip!

Oh well, Travelocity also had Continental for 323.00, maybe that is the best one can do. Sorry it didn't work, seemed like it should have.

Ah thanks for the ideas though :p At least I know to watch uniteds page, and if the price drops anywhere near that $343 than I can use the ENT coupons :-) So you DID help me :-)

Next time check out Jet Blue flying out of JFK. If you live in Westchester, JFK is prob closer.than Newark..Have flown Jetblue and never had bad experience...Great Airline ..October prices are $130 R/T.

I just bookd on Southwest from Kansas City for $159 a person. This is the best deal I have ever seen.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Rxchalk--that is an awesome deal with SW. Dont pass that up.
Welome to the Dis!!
