i have not flown in 7 years and the plane tickets are of course much higher then when I last flew. My IL's fly all the time and claim we should be getting cheap airfare since we are booked for the beginning to November. I am not seeing cheap. Jet Blue just released their fares and I am kicking myself for not booking. The first day released, I had the 4 tickets Boston to Orlando nonstop for $2000. Now to get the price, I either need to take a connecting flight home or fly into Worcester.
Delta is much higher and I can only find connecting with American. Southwest has not released our dates yet.

Can anyone give any insight? We will have two small children so direct sounds much easier.

Does the airfare start high and should I wait a bit and stop being so nervous?

Has anyone flown from Worcester? My in laws did on their last trip, it just makes me nervous how small of an airport it is and there is only that one flight for jet blue each day. If jet blue cancels the flight, are we done and not getting to FL on time?

Does anyone know when southwest will release more dates? They fly from 2 airports near us. I have never flown southwest.

I have found that SW out of bos or Manchester, nh to be higher even when they first release the fares compared to jetblue. If Providence works for you the fares are usually lower than either bos or mht. Also try Tue, Wed, or Thur. as travel dates. I have never seen non-stop fares drop from bos or mht, during school vacation weeks, ever! And we have flown for over 10 years now and usually bought the tickets months early.

Thank you! I am glad I know it is not worth waiting for southwest to release. I will check out providence. If I can save some money, it might be worth the extra drive.

If it helps you at all whenever we visit my step-father-in-law's family in New Bedford,MA we look up Providence first then Boston for airfare. We're flying from KCI and sometimes Boston is less sometimes it's more. I know for now SWA has flights available up through 11/4/16.

Also we fly non-stop when possible but that can mean higher fares just depending on the time of day (usually 1st in the morning and last in the evening flights are cheapest) we usually fly out between 5:30 and 6:45 am or after 6pm depending on where we are going (though the 8-9pm range can be cheaper than the 6pm at times).

The last few years in early June southwest has ran its yearly birthday sale with the cheapest airfare they offer. I can't say they will do it again this year but I would watch for the sale.

I fly in and out of Worcester whenever I can get a good fare. I just booked them for my flight home from WDW in early Dec.
if, for some reason, a flight use Worcester, they will bus you to, or from, Boston. Parking is easy and cheap. Granted, good options aren't great, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
I use Worcester (30 mins from me), Boston (45-60 mins) and Providence (60 mins). Price, flight times are what I look for. And if I'm traveling solo? My dh can drop meme at one airport and pick me up at another!
I heartily recommend using Worcester...you won't be stranded. It might take awhile to get to your destination if there is a weather issue, but you'll get there.

Thank you! That is good to know about Worcester! It was the one flight per day to Orlando making me nervous. Worcester is a little further for us, but the parking is $42 compared to $120 at Logan so another savings!
