We've been trying to purchase airline tickets for our November 2006 trip. The prices our out of this world.....The time/day we want to fly out on most airlines is up to $700.00 A TICKET ! We are flying out of Newark.

Is anyone else trying to purchase tickets for the same time? and if so....have you gotten any advice from anyone....as far as the prices possibly coming down?

We thought of flying into Tampa, and then driving to Orlando but I feel that will waste half of our first day....and all of our last day.

The only alternative would be to drive at this point.....which I would rather not do.

Any suggestions? Has anyone found that the prices go down the closer you get to your departure date?

Check US Air.... I purchased tickets (in January) for a Thanksgiving trip. Flying from (ABE) Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton to Orlando @ $186 a person. Price was important since we are flying 7 people & 2 small children! We have a layover only an 1hr on the departing & returning flights. If your days are flexible... us airways com has a feature to search tickets by price. Philadelphia typically has cheap tickets also.

If you are traveling near the holiday... Prices go UP... way UP... the longer you wait.

I partly disagree with the previous poster. You're looking a bit too early for your tix. Be patient and flexible and you should be able to get a much better deal.

I agree. Southwest doesn't even have their rates out yet.

These are usually cheap. Southwest won't come out with their schedule for November for another month or 2, but I think you can get a ticket for under $200 pp.

I am also looking to fly non-stop out of Newark on Nov. 5 - 12: Jersey Week, so the prices are really crazy. It is around $500 for the times I want on Continental. I am waiting for Jet Blue to release their flight dates for Nov. They just extended their schedule to Oct. 31, so I'm hoping they release Nov. dates soon and that when they are first released the prices are reasonable.

Try sidestep.com. I just put in Nov. 5 - 12th. (sun - sun) for Newark and it came back w/ $219.70 for UsAir and $223 for Multiple carriers. I thought these were pretty reasonable for sunday travel. We are holding out for early dec. Good luck. :)

I am also searching for flights, Thanksgiving week!! Wicked expensive. I am going to wait a bit longer since like the previous posters said southwest doesn't have their flights out yet. Hopefully waiting will pay off. Otherwise, I think I may drive down.

I couldn't find anything below $400 for non-stop leaving in morning and returning after 12pm (I am returning from Disney Cruise).
Thanks anyways.

Can you be flexable with airports? Can you go to NYC airports or into PA? This might open your options and lower your prices.

If you , like MICHBRO, are looking to go "Jersey Week" your best bet is to keep hitting JetBlue until the dates you are looking for are added. In the meantime, you need to be flexible and try combos of airports, days, times, etc.

The prices for "Jersey Week" or Thanksgiving probably won't go down as it gets closer because of the demand during this time.

I think I'm just going to wait for Jet Blue to release their Nov dates and if I can't find anything for a reasonable price then I'll consider other options such as NY or PA airports as a last resort.

So, if I am looking for tickets for the week after Thanksgiving (11/30-12/8)will prices come down a little or is this still considered "holiday" travel?

My family is going to WDW on Nov. 24 - Nov. 30 flying out of Newark on Continental for $168 per person. We are traveling with 6 adults and 2 children, this was the best price we could find. We usually fly out of Atlantic City but the price was $320 - Go figure? Our times (I think) are 8:50 am on the 24th and 12:30 on the 30th flight. I both these tickets on March 29th.

Hope you find a good price!!!

WOW! That is an awesome price.....Did you get them off of the internet or did you use a travel agent....I havent seen prices that low out of Newark, and I've been looking everyday for almost 2 months.

I'm with you, Kowalchicky!

I've searched every single airport out of EWR (I got the list from the Port Authority website) and I have found nothing nonstop under 600 round trip for two. I might be able to talk DBF into one stop on the way back, but that would be about it. I tried Philly and JFK and it wasn't significantly better. And then I'd have to factor in a taxi bc no one would drive me from here.

I am waiting for something cheaper, beacuse I can't afford that much. I don't think everyone's released all their fares yet. Not everyone plans trips 6 mos in advance.

P.S.
Does Kowalchicky come from part of your last name?
(It's part of DBF's/my future (eventually) last name, too)

I am definately NOT an expert on airfare( I don't fly) But this will be the second time I am purchasing tickets for part of the family. If you are flexible with the airport( I know it may take a little traveling) you may save alot. My aunt and uncle normally fly out of philly(25 minutes away) but last year they went to AC because we found fares at 49-59 each way. It might not hurt to try other airports.
