My husband and I are looking to switch to a new credit card that will allow us to use points for airfare. Our credit card used to be really good on redeeming points but now you have to have A LOT of points to get tickets. I don't care if they have a yearly fee that is under $100 for a good credit card with lower points on airfare. I have briefly looked at the Disney credit card with the annual fee but I don't know how good it is on airfare. :confused3 It mentioned that you can redeem the points toward the airfare cost but how long does it take to get points? I did like the savings I could get booking Disney vacations but I would like it to be good with airfare too.
Any suggestions? :)
Thank you!!

Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Flexible benefits, including transferring your points into airline programs so that you can "top off" your airline miles without having to purchase miles from the airline. You can also purchase airfare with the card and use your points to pay yourself back by using the points for a statement credit. They also allow you to book travel through their own portal. Sometimes you can get better deals through them than you can get by going directly through the airline's website.

I highly recommend the SW card through Chase. Wait until they have the 50K bonus points for signing up promotion. I got 3 round trip flights with my first 50K in points.

I like the SW card because the points required to book a flight correspond with the price of the flight. Plus, you can use them on any flight. In addition, booking with points is so flexible. You can cancel the flight at any time and the points go right back into your account.

The annual fee is either $69 or $99 depending on the card you get but you get bonus points equivalent to the amount of the annual fee, ie my annual fee is $99 but I get enough bonus points every year to book at $99 flight. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Unless you're redeeming miles for international business or first class, the redemption rates are pretty terrible. I've had over a million airline miles, and I will always pay cash for domestic flights. Apart from the sign-up bonuses, you'll be better off with a cash-back card.

I read on slickdeals that the Capital One Venture Card (the annual fee one, not the Ventureone which had no annual fee) currently has a 50k in miles sign up bonus. That's the card where you can book travel with the card and use your points to pay for the purchase. You have to have enough points to cover the whole amount though.

As JESSM said, Southwest Card when they have there 50,000 points deal is the best way to go. Note: the 99 dollar fee is the better deal.

I just got this card with the 50000 points deal. They kept sending me the offer through the mail. If you are looking to get this card, check the rapid rewards mail they send.

Look at the homepage of southwest airlines and see their credit card offer on the bottom of the page. 50,000 points for spending 2k in 3 months, plus pay $99. My husband and I both did this last year and we are flying our family of 6 to Orlando in May for free - great deal for us.

There is an article on this today on MSN. This is exactly what they concluded. Skip the miles, get the cash back.

We have the Disney premiere card with the fee. We get 1-2% back depending on category. I either use the rewards for a disney trip or I credit them towards my statement after booking airfare just like cash.

SWA is again offering 50,000 miles for spending $2000 in 3 months. DH did this in Nov and I am signing up for mine.

I get the Alaska Airlines Visa card. The miles are worth about 1.5 cents per mile. I really do good when I can book Orlando tickets for 25,000 miles. Alaska usually charges $600+ for the flights from Seattle.

They also give you a $110 companion fare ticket every year that is really valuable for higher priced tickets such as Hawaii or Florida. Works great for people who live in Seattle, Portland, or Alaska.
