Airfares for December question

We are going in December...I was waiting around & didn't book our flights at $211 a person & now they are up to $250 - should I book now? Is there a chance they'll come down? Or go up? By the way, its with Delta.

There is a chance that it will go down. There is also a chance it will go up. You don't say where you are flying from so its difficult to say if the current price is good or not.

What we usually do is to monitor the price for several months ahead of time (and December is still pretty far away) so that we know what a good fare is. Then, when we see something good for the days we are going to travel, we buy at that time. Usually we have our tickets a month or more ahead of time. Seldom do we buy more than 3 months ahead.

Oh, I am flying from New Orleans, Louisiana & never flew before so I don't know the outs & ins of all this yet. So, should I check back daily? I saw that when picking the roundtrip option the flight there shows less than the return flight (but I guess it goes by the most expensive of the two? <<shrugs>>) And just looking at the seating options the return trip has alot less available seats than the one going. Am I making sense?? Any help would be appreciated. Would I do better by not selecting roundtrip??

Check www.kayak.com. It shows all of the airlines together (except for Southwest) and you can use a range of dates to see which is the cheapest day to fly. I normally book 3-6 months in advance myself but we usually fly Southwest and they only release dates 3-5 months in advance.

Personally, I'd hold out longer but I'm not familiar with airfare from New Orleans so hopefully someone else here can tell you if $250 is a good fare or not.

Book it soon. In December we decided to take a last minute trip to Fort Lauderdale from Boston. It cost me $1500 for two on JetBlue, which was cheaper than Delta.
