We are booked on the Magic for 2/5/05. I've been checking airfare for when we go (detroit to mco). The best rates I'm getting are $250 and up. We just flew to mco last month, booked 2 weeks prior, and got tickets for $165. Just wondering if it could be up because of fuel costs right now? I thought about taking a chance and book after summer in hopes that fuel $$ drops, but by then rates could be even worse. I've never tried to book airfare this early in advance and just wondering if airlines hold off from publishing the discounted seats until later? Thanks in advance if anyone has advice.:firefight

Since you have almost a whole year I would hold off a little while. If the high prices are because of fuel costs they are bound to go down. Have you tried Travelocity? I always find the cheapest prices there. I would just make sure you check the prices daily because you never know, they go up and down all the time. I also do the fare watcher on any sight that offers one. Travelocity has one and I just entered the citys I wanted to fly to and when ever the rate falls below what I put in they will email me. Pretty handy. :D Good luck finding a good deal! :D

I would try Orbitz also and see if Spirit air flies from your city. I have gotten the best deals on Spirit the last few times I have flown to Florida. I would wait. Southwest also does not post prices more than 3 mos before the flights. You can find a sale I bet. The key is to keep checking. I thought I would never find a good rate for spring break and out of the blue Spirit had a sale in August and I booked it right away. Don't hesitate if you find the great rate..book it cuz they do seel out fast.. Check every day if you have to . Rates can change 4 times a day. Melissa

Thanks for the help. I agree, I'm pretty confident the rates will drop. I'll just check everyday.:firefight
