airfare with magic your way???

has anyone ever purchaced their airfair through disney.com with their package. i know you get to pick your flight, but is there any discount or anything on it?

I did last year. The price was exactly the same as I was able to get myself at that time period. The only thing that proved to be an advantage was that at one point we needed to rearrange flights and Disney was able to do that without charging us a change fee like I would have paid had I dealt with the airline directly. However I'm not sure if if I got lucky or if that is their regular practice.

If there are flight changes (schedule changes by the airline), it is almost always easier to deal directly through the airline rather then through a third party, which is what Disney is when they purchase the airfare for you. It is rare that the prices Disney offers are cheaper then what you can buy direct, so I would just book them direct through the airline.

When I booked through Disney (Air Tran) for last August, I got rates about $45 cheaper per person ($174 vs. $220) from Disney than I could find myself. Not sure why, but since it was the case, I went ahead and booked through Disney. I did find that when I wanted to then pay the $6 to reserve the seats that Air Tran wouldn't work with me and insisted (quite rudely) that I couldn't get my seats assigned until I was actually at the airport. I called Disney and they were able to book my seats for me without paying the $6 fee per seat! So it all worked out well for us to go through Disney, but I'm not sure if that is the exception or the rule!
