Airfare the weekend before July 4

We are considering flying to Orlando June 21-29. Our return flight falls on the Sunday prior to July 4. Is that weekend typically more expensive due to the upcoming holiday? We fly Southwest and we won't get a good idea on their rates for a few months.

We also have the option to go June 14-22 if airfare will be too high the later week.

Any insight you have is appreciated.

Southwest is currently accepting reservations through June 30 so you can look up your dates. On January 27 they will release the new dates through August 8.

You didn't mention which airport or part of the county that you are flying from. That can make a difference.

In my experience Sunday's always seem to be one of the most expensive days to fly home from MCO. For the airports around me I get the cheapest airfare on Wednesdays irregardless of the time of the year -- unless the holiday itself is on Wednesday.

I'm having difficulty with that weekend right now, trying to fly home from LAX and all the Wanna Get Away fares are gone. I'm holding out hope that they will re appear or that when they open up the bookings into July, we can go mid week to mid week instead of Sat-Sat
